Ravi - oh come on, everyone wants their team to make playoffs but obviously no one wants to see your team go down after being up 3-0. Regardless I think EVERYONE wants their team in the playoffs and to have an opportunity to win the championship. Choke? I guess so, but aside from games 3 and 7, the entire series was very tight. Imo - it was a good series generally and pretty entertaining... up until game 7.
The Philles collapse was technically worse than the Mets. But no team has ever done what the Yankees did.

CleanCL: Since you're the Yankees fan here, you wanna explain Jason Giambi's golden thong...? Cuz, I'm still quite about hearing about it.

well when you are the best professional sports team to exist you gotta mix things up a little. it gets boring just winning all the time.

You mean Mark Buerhle (2-5, 5.27)? Or does he have a brother or sister coming up through the minors that you're talking about?

Illinorge, I just assumed you were an exact replica of me: Bears, Cubs, and Illini alumnus (although I am a current Undergrad). My morale has dropped slightly

eh... ehhhhh.... yeah, sorry Yum. You know I am always with you on things, but those Cubs/Sox "fusion" fans don't make sense to me. I guess it's just something I can't do; no lose to you though, 2x better chance of something happening!

Yeah...I know it's weird. But, it's not like I'm a fair-weathered fan of either franchises either. I've seen them both go through some real brown-bag-over-head specials.

Mind you, it's easier now that I don't live in Chicago.

I read a pretty good article on Fukudome the other day...talks about how much is eye at the plate is helping them

I was at this game.

Words can't describe it.

It was my first trip to Boston and Fenway.

Only thing that could have made it better would have been seeing Manny hit 2 HR to get 500.

I've never lived in Chicago but for some reason at 5 years old I knew that Walter Payton was my favorite player ever.

Then I started following the Cubbies (Ryan Sandberg, Andre Dawson, Mark Grace, Sammy Sosa back in the day) and White Sox (Robin Ventura, Harold Baines, Frank Thomas back in the day) as well. Guess I'm one of those people who follow two teams as well.
Never cared for the Bulls, only when MJ first was around.
Love the Bears though sports in general just ain't what it used to be.

Plus I follow the pitiful Nets (except for a couple of the last seasons, the 90's was all about drafting players that either got hurt or were a bust) and the under-appreciated Devils.

Anyhow it used to be about following teams, now there's fewer examples of those in professional sports, just individual superstars that you track over their careers.

O RLY.

At least this is not the same manager like a certain somebody who let the Reds bat out of order in the ninth, with backup catcher David Ross erroneously hitting in the No. 8 hole instead of ex-Cub pariah Corey Patterson.

YOU LIKE THAT...?!?!???

Hey, I never claimed to like Baker, but he definitely doesn't embarrass the franchise like Guillen.

Something wrong with that freak...

Well, I think Ozzie's antics are planned. Usually he does it when the team goes slumping...and hey, since his little diatribe, the ChiSox are back on the upswing and in 1st again.

You just wish Baker went on a racist-bleepity-bleep tirade to get your Reds outta their basement/perma-lastplace funk.

Baker was going to, then he saw how well that worked out for Randolph and reconsidered
