If he is a grade A chump he will press charges. That hobbit in a jersey stepped up to Artest like he was some Shaft wannabe and got smacked like the little bitch he is. I feel no pity for that chump. I bet you he will sue for millions, you wait and see.

Bullshit man, Artest is not without a doubt to blame for the incident. If you want to play cause and effect, then Wallace is to blame for the incident for shoving Artest or video games are to blame for making us a violent society or.....

It takes two to tango and many fans simply feel too empowered when around others, which is just a similar case to mob mentality. Fans are often times as out of control as the players are.

Godamn dude, get a fuckin clue. Are you saying it was a full cup, even though it flew like 30' in the air? From all the 50 times I've seen the video up close of the cup hitting his face, not once did I notice a huge splash of liquid. He got hit with an empty plastic cup, while he was lying on the scorers table like a dickhead.

BTW, did you guy see the long angle shot of that toss? I am impressed with the aim of that guy.

Face it, Ron Artest is a fuckup. Who else would ask for time off from the NBA to promot their rap album? He's a complete retard, with exceptional athletic abilities. People at his level are expected to know right from wrong. He knows it was wrong that some douche in the crowd threw a cup, he also should know that charging up there is twice as wrong.

What you people who say "if it happened on the street I woulda done the same thing, or if it happened at my work" bullshit. The difference is that his ation nearly incited a riot. People in the opposite end of the stadium were injured, violence erupted on the court, and there was the possibilty of MANY more injuries from crowd panic. You cant compare a hostile situation in a closed stadium with 50,000 people, to an office with 7. Get a clue.

i know at my job, if someone throws beer in my face and i attack them, i am gonna get fired. case closed. i am sure that will be the case at any job. there is no justification for what artest did. the blame should fall entirely on him. he has the right to defend himself, but a better defense for a flying cup woulda been to move into the center of the court...not stepping in to the stands where the trouble began.

now where the fan came on to the court and tried to fight him, that was an entirely different situation. he has a right to defend himself. whether the guy was gonna try to punch him or not, artest should be allowed to defend himself when he is on the court. and thats where he should have stayed. on the court. now he will most likely be in court. lolz.

I'm a Pistons fan, and I disagree. Ben Wallace wouldnt let Ron Artest dunk in his face, regardless of the score. Ben is partly to blame, because he should not have continued to thrw items (water bottle/towel) and rant when Artest went on the scorers table. That still does not mean he is ta fault. He kept the beef on the court, and he didnt punch anybody.

why not. this was a battle between two teams picked to win the east by a lot of people. it was a message foul... no easy buckets, no easy dunks.. Artest was showing he'll play hard and use his fouls if he has them, for the FULL 48 minutes. maybe Ben would think twice next time he went up, alter his shot. it wasnt a flagrant foul so I dont have a problem with it.

what's next? rick carlisle was to blame because he shouldn't have had his starters still on the floor with a large lead and the game already decided? what about brown?

I was being sarcastic, hence the video game example. My point was that it's wrong to say that Artest was 1000% to blame for this, because there was a cause and effect in place. Was Artest mostly to blame? Yes! But we can't just say that the fans were innocent in this ordeal, because it was their actions, wrong actions mind you, that provoked the incident.

No, I mean the players. I'm just saying The NBA has to provide a safe working environment and they and the arena are responsible for that. They failed miserably. I don't think the players will sue though.

I don't think any fan on the court would have standing in a court. Especially since it was obvious they went out there ill intentions.

He should get charged with inciting a riot. There's no question that Artest would not have gone in the stands had he not thrown that beer at him. And his teammates would not have followed him. That beer was the spark to an already hot situation. Besides why would you waste a $6 beer?

WRONG! Artest is just part of the blame. The beer shouldnever have been thrown and Artest shouldn't have gone after him according to the rules.

1) That "empty" cup must have had wings and a homing beacon. And I could clearly see the liquid fly out of the cup as well.
2) Last time I checked the music group ALLURE were female R&B singers.
3) Also the last time I checked it took more than one person to have a riot. Placing all of the blame on Artest is B.S. There were dozens of "fans" doing sh!t they would never have done in any other situation.

Jadia, I agree the beer should of never been thrown. However, go look at how often shit is thrown at players, they should know better then to react. Not saying that it was ok to throw the beer, but artests reaction was uncalled for. You don't run up multiple isles to charge a guy that threw a beer at you.

All the fans involved are going to get charged with misdemeanors except for the idiot that threw the chair who should get a felony charge.

In Michigan, the Auburn Hills police reported that nine people claimed they were assaulted by players during Friday's brawl in the game between the Detroit Pistons and the Pacers at the Palace of Auburn Hills. The Oakland County prosecutor said that charges were not likely to be filed for two to three weeks and that they would be no higher than misdemeanors, except possibly for a felony charge against the person who threw a chair into the crowd.

you my friend, deserve this smiley the most out of anyone

because you fail to see the point i'm trying to make, its useless talking to you.

Everyone loves the scapegoat, one person who started everything. Artest is responsible for losing his temper but to blame all this on him would be ridiculous.

But, no sense telling you, if you had it your way, you'd let fans keep their bottle caps and any other ammo they might have handy while they sit in the stands.

Detiot should be ashamed of themselves.

Anybody who thinks that the fans can throw shit or whatever they'd feel like doing to the athletes just because they think they are the ones feeding the players with high salaries, no, the only reason for getting paid so much is that they are rare talents and for the level of performance they put up with. Fans DO NOT have any rights to treat athletes like throwing shit or spitting at them, etc. but only rights to watch them perform in person by paying for tickets. Fans do have rights to feel like they can do anything including being stupid like that when they are watching the Dog fights or some kind, not an NBA game.
I'm not trying to defend Artest or anybody from the Pacers but I can kinda understand how bad he must have felt especially after trying to stay cool about Big Ben's shove.
Only if he was a little more mature and smarter and acted differeny, he could have made Big Ben look stupid for overreacting and that moron for being so fuckin' ignorant. Suspension is fair, I think. Not because Artest got pissed off by that moron who threw a cup, but the way he handled the whole situation. When trying to deal with a moron, you need to be a moron and if you wanted to win against that moron, you have to place yourself at an even lower position. That's what Artest did. Pure stupidity.
And of course, that stupid ass fan should be banned from the arena for good and have his tickets revoked.

And yes, professional athletes should be able to handle situations like this better for their own good and leave them to the security.
