Now that the fines and suspension have been dealt to the players, what about the fans involved? I'm waiting for that punk ass kid to get what he deserves... a year ban from NBA games and maybe some criminal charges.
It's like what Maurice Taylor of the Rockets said the other night... why are the players the only ones being charged with criminal charges as well as NBA fines and suspensions... peeps are always say "athletes get special treatment", well, I guess that should mean that fans should also receive equal treatment.
Nonetheless, I still believe the behavior by the fans was just as horrid as the players.

Bullshit. Can you imagine if a guy like Tim Duncan or Grant Hill was in Artests' exact position? Would they charge the stands? No, they would probably get up, shake themselves off, point out the guy to security, and get back on the court.
And you can't compare this to a situation on the street where a guy throws a beer at you. It is obviously different.

My experience with a similar situation
I recently had a an incident at work with a subordinate who is a notorious dirtbag. There is guy I work with who is well know for being cheap and low class. Because I was pretty much disgusted with him and I'd gotten complaints from other subordinates, I respectfully and privately confronted him about it. He got pissed and walked away. A few minutes later he comes back with 5 $1 bills which he slapped in one guys chest and he threw with another bill in my face. Which I obviously was pissed about but when he stood over me (I was sitting in a chair) and tried to stare me down I lost it and I stood up to him face-to-face. A couple of co-workers separated us, and I told him to stay clear of me. When I said that he actually stepped toward me, so i grabbed him by the collar and was ready to commence the slobberknocking. But luckily we were separated again. Once I had a chance to calm down, I felt like sh!t because I let myself be baited by that sh!tbag. But before I even stood up, the thought went through my mind that just by standing up in his face this could get progressively worse. But I also thought there was no way I could let this dude do that to me, and that he should understand that doing that kind of sh!t could get his ass beat. The point I'm trying to make is even mild mannered people can lose it, and sometimes they have to stand up just to make sure others know there are "consequences and repercussions". You're also asking alot of people to take that kind of treatment, and remain cool.

[QUOTE=Beelzebub]This whole thing is a disgrace.
I don't care if you get a beer throne in your face, that is no right to go into the stands and beat the crap out of the person you "THINK" did it. If I had a beer throne on me and then proceeded to beat him up. I would probably spend the night in jail.
QUOTE]
Triple
If a guy on the street threw a beer at you (which is a bad comparison to make to begin with, because an NBA game is a totally different scenario) and you punch him, there will be consequences for your actions.
I think all the suspensions are justified and appropriate. I actually would have like to see O'neal and Jackson get longer suspensiions, but overall, pretty good.
Man do those guys on ESPN's "Shootaround" crew look silly now. David Stern apparently didn't agree with them one bit. I can't believe they were throwing around "10 game" suspension for Artest.

Although Artest started it, O'neal and Jackson weren't too far off. They hit fans for crying out loud, and O'neal's was a total sucker punch, uncalled for.
Jackson and O'neal shoulda gotten like 50 games each.

Artest got what he deserved. He is a black eye to the NBA. Stern should have put a clause in the suspension for a review at the end of the season that could ban him permanently from the leauge. Hopefully the man gets charged with battery and disorderly conduct and sued by fan he incorrectly attacked. His rap record better sell well cause he isn't getting his NBA money this year.

I'm curious what the players union will say about the suspensions and $$$$ lost. And can the players sue the NBA for the lack of security, or can the fans sue NBA for lack of security, or can the NBA sue the fans that threw cheap shots, threw bottles, and dumped beer. I believe any organization is required to provide a safe work environment. I suspect if there are suits they will be flying in many directions.

2nd, how do you know he raped her? Did you even follow the trial?
Third, he doesn't go around on the court looking like a fucking jackass by jumping in the stands and whooping some ass.

And before you THERE, I've been a Lakers fan for the last 27 years.
Also don't forget how Kobe bum rushed Reggie Miller on top of the ref's table AFTER a game!

I also though O'Neil and Jackson should've been gone for the season, they had the biggest two hits in the fight.

he threw a half empty beer, he should get what the law states. It is Artest who w/o a doubt is to blame for the incident.

Okay, one, these are proffessional athletes, they are yelled and and cursed at at almost every game they go to. 2nd, Artests reaction was to ONE SINGLE HALF EMPTY BEER getting thrown at him. That does not give him justification to run up multiple isles to attack a fan. Shit is thrown at players ALL THE TIME, does it make it right? No, does it give the player justification to rush the fan and hit him, no? Then his teammates had ZERO business going up there just swinging. The fans that were fighting back were the guys that were with the guy that got initially hit. What would you do if some player ran up and attacked a friend, you'd help him defend himself. Remember, all the other shit didn't get thrown at them until AFTER the whole incident had escalated
As I've stated, I might of done the same as artest, but would it be right? No, would I be held responsible for my actions, yes.
As stated, I have a few family friends that play pro baseball, one of the very first things they learn is to ignore the fans, shit will get thrown at them, their mothers will get called whores, that does not give them the right to attack someone.
