Most of the DO THINK they're thugs. I can't wait to hear Artests' album.

The Artest foul on Wallace should have no bearing on how you perceive this situation. If you want to fairly asses what happened, you need to just take into account everything that happened after Artest was hit with the cup.

This happens ALL THE TIME at games. People always throw stuff, especially at football games. Do players jump into stands and hit fans? I mean, the guy got hit with a plastic cup. And he charges the stands? What if there were women and children around? What if you are an innocent fan standing next to the guy who initially threw the cup?

And the O'neal sucker punch? No excuse. There should be lawsuits like crazy.

And what's up with the NBA doing damage control and blaming the fans, and talking about 10 game suspensions.

If Latrell Sprewell got 68 games for putting his hands around his COACH in private, then how could Stephen Jackson, Artest, and Jermaine O'neal get anything less?

I will be pretty upset if all 3 of them don't get suspended at least for the remainder of the season.

The incident was completely uncalled for. Artest, Jackson and O'Neal should be suspended for the rest of the season. Talk about thugs.

I worked at Shea stadium for 5 years in HS and the beginning of college, and I saw incidents where the fans threw cups and crap like that at the players. All the players would do was point out the person that threw it, and security escorted the fan out of the stadium (or arrested the fan). It's as simple as this.

I'm glad to see someone in this thread has a voice of reason.

i dont think the fans should be punished

the players know better than to jump into the fans like that. Kinda wish every pacer in the crowd got there ass kicked!

So what if that one fan that started the whole brawl by throwing a cup at artest. Artest is the guy with the money and the fame nothing will go in favor when your famous and you throw punches. If he would have just stayed professional and stayed on the court the stadium officials would have done their job and arrested that fan.

I really hope this escalates and we see a crazy game when they play again in indy. This is what the league needs some excitment!!!!

artest, jackson and oneal should be suspended for 10 games each without pay and fine each 100,000!

ben wallace should get fined 20,000 and suspended for 3 games

i think that would be fair

Artest was an idiot. He shouldnt have rushed the stands, on on top off that how does he go after the wrong person, who is still holding his drink, so obviously he didnt throw it. Id be pissed if i was that guy just standing there and got his face smashed down just cause artests dumb ass cant even realize who threw it so he just goes after the first person he sees. I also dont agree with what you said junkster. Anyone who steps on the court is fair game to get their ass beat. Comon thats stupid. There are floor seats so of course when something like this happens especially there will be people on the floor. They had to go somewhere when the players were trying to trample them. ITs fine to defend yourself if someone tries to hit you first, but they shouldnt be able to just clock anyone that steps on the floor even if their taunting them.

Players will get sued:
Artest by rushing that one kid in the beginning. Maybe the other fat guy that stepped to him. He was walking at Artest's direction so they'd have to prove Artest wasn't provoked.

O'Neal for his haymaker.

Jackson on that one guy he smacked in the stands.

Tinsley if he got anybody with the stool.

Oh yeah. The NBA might get sued by fans that felt they were unsafe. That old lady that was on the ground might bring up charges.

I agree that fans aren't fair game on the floor. But the that came up to Artest had his dukes up like he was ready to fight him. If you watch the video on ESPN, Stephen A Smith blames it on the fans.

it all starts with Ben Wallace.

He's not at fault for what happened, but he apitamizes everything that is wrong with the NBA.

He starts a fight, over something that wasn't even a flagrant foul. The NBA has made it ok for players to fight by not penalizing them enough. Its quite obvious that the NBA picks and chooses its media battles and enjoys the extra attention it gets, but this obviously isn't working in their favor.

You've got to come down on everyone, not just the Pacers, not just the Pistons, but teh entire league. This isn't the first time its happened, and without any new laws, it won't be the last.

Why is violence so accepted on the court between the players but the second it spills into the stands, people are upset? The fans jeer the players, yell at them, in this case, throw cups at them.

Some of you will say that its their fault, after all they make so much and should show more restraint but thats not always the case. The Fans throw things at the players and there was NO SECURITY to take care of it.

The fight on court is what started it, but don't holding Artest responsible would be hyproctical.

of course blame it on the fans, they stepped on the court and instigated with players.

Artest ran into the stands, after he was getting bombarded with cups.

Where's the security?

did you watch the video? Artest got hit w/ just 1 beer, then he rushed the stands, along w/ other players who immediately started swinging. The fans fighting them back were friends w/ the guy that Artest hit at first.

guys,

the 2 guys that were on the court had courtside tickets if u were watching the game closley, so they did not come down to the courth, they were no more than 5 feet awy from there seats, wither way they were dumb for trying to step up to these big ass players, but in the end they will get millions in court

i am also hearing rumors that the guy in the stands throwing blows at jones was ben wallaces brother....

i cant wait to see what goes down, 3 pacers players should be gone for the season

WTF are you talking about?? 1 empty plastic cup that weighs like 1oz is not getting "bombarded". Its not like he was hit with a glass bottle, it was a plastic cup, that shove by Ben hurt more, and he didnt seem to ant to run up to him & fight. He ran at a small white dude, who didnt even throw the cup.

It was, all the other shit didn't happen until after the incident. It all STARTED when he got hit w/ one cup and then he rushed the stands and started the fight. Then after all of that the fans started throwing shit.
