Back in '93 this town was electric over the Kings being in the Finals.
It was all over TV, Radio, Press, Billboards...etc. Those were good times.

If you lived in So Cal you would know how much different it would be if the Kings were in the finals versus the Duckies being in the finals.

Kinda sorta like the difference between the Angels and the Dodgers.

^ I dunno...I thought having Snoopy Woofwoof as a fan of the Ducks would bring out at least the entire hip-hop rap-city yo foshizzle crowd over at California into the fray...?

Wait a minute!!! That's not Snoop...or the Duckies...

Snoop is no fan of the Duckies or Hockey. Just a bandwagoner.

Personally, I bet the NHL is very pleased that a western team won the Stanley
Cup. Especially in California - it represents a potentially huge untapped market
and the win by the Ducks can only raise the visibility of the sport there as did
Gretzky's move to LA back in the day.

After all, everybody loves a winner!

The duckies have little if any die-hard fans. Peeps go to duckie games because they had nothing better to do, or they are bandwagoners when the team is in the playoffs.

TSN's - California's Top 10 Hockey Moments

http://broadband.tsn.ca/?vid=8425

10. Wildwing catches on fire.
9. Luc Robitaille scores his record-breaking 551st goal.
8. Miracle on Manchester
7. Marcel Dionne wins the Art Ross
6. Ducks Defeat Red Wings in 1st round in 2003 (and lose in 7 to NJ)
5. Oakland Seals form in 1967. In 1976 they move to Cleveland.
4. Gretzky breaks (Howe's) goals and points record.
3. LA becomes first California team to reach the Cup FInals
2. Sharks defeat Red Wings in 1994.
1. The Kings acquire Gretzky in 1988.
So the Duckies winning the Cup is #11

Wildwing catches on fire > Duckies winning the Cup....IMHO.

..but then again expectaions for the playoff run that year were low...new coach, and the Kings were not a top pic to win.

They have been sold out since December. I doubt you can say the same for the Staples Center. Hey if a place called Hockey Town can't sell out their playoff games, what's the big deal if the Honda Center isn't sold out anyway? So who cares. I'm not gonna keep bagging on your team. If it was the other way around, I would have been rooting of the Kings or Sharks to bring it to Cali.

Anyway, congrats to the Ducks. It was great watching those guys celebrate last night, especially for guys like Teemu and Jiggy. They were the best team at the beginning and the best at the end. I just hope they can keep the same people together and improve. I would hate for Jiggy to go across town next season. That would force me to cheer for them, except against the Ducks ofcourse.

You gotta be a Duck fan fer sure!! You would pull for the Kings or Sharks if they were in the playoffs?!?!?!?! Silly duckie fans. You gotta learn to hate your opposition with a passion!!!!

btw the Ducks had 25 total sellouts on the season....almost doubling last seasons number of sellouts Go ducky bandwagon!!!

In all seriousness....other than this past year with the Kings in re-build mode...it is far easier to get a ticket to a Duck game than a King game....and FWIW...with the team the Ducks had this season, there is no reason why they should not have sold out the entire season at home.

Are you REALLY a Duck fan? If so how long?

I wouldn't scream like a school girl everytime they score but I would rather them win than say the Red Wings or Dallas. Ofcourse I hate those teams with a passion but I was pulling for the Sharks to win this year so they can meet the Ducks in the WC finals. You got to put your hate aside because having those teams do well generates more buzz for hockey in California. You can say what you want about nobody giving a crap about the Ducks but atleast now they are getting alot more coverage. Hey yesterday at the Kaiser hospital in Panorama City, I heard people talking about the Ducks. That's right in Panorama City!

Anyway, I haven't been a Ducks fan for long. I watched a few hockey games here and there, like when the Kings were in the playoffs in '93. I could never get into it as I had no clue what the rules were. I started gaining interest in '03 when Kevin and Bean over at KROQ kept on interviewing Giguere and how well he was doing. I've always had a fondness to goalies, which was part of the reason I started watching the Kings when they had Kelly Hrudey (I think he was doing well back then if I can remember). So I started watching the Ducks play and since my boss was a big hockey fan, he taught me all the rules and stuff. Since I knew all the players at that point, that's when I became a Ducks fan. From then on I just became more into hockey and now it's my number 1 sport. I use to only love football, but now I can't even watch it sometimes. It's just too slow for me. I use to think hockey was boring but now it's the most exciting sport. So I am just a new Ducks fan but I have not missed a game since I started watching back in '03.

There are not enough hard-core ducky fans to fill their arena...sad.

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and more than 15,000 fans celebrated the Anaheim Ducks' Stanley Cup title Saturday night.

Some fans who jammed the south parking lot of the Honda Center brought homemade replicas of the cup, and some bought souvenir game pucks in Stanley Cup-shaped cases.

The Ducks won the NHL title with a 6-2 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday night, ending the series in five games in front of their home fans.
Only 15,000 fans!?!?!?
15,000 people would not even sell-out the Honda Center!!

Shocker!!! A Duck fan...and one who admits to it.
I beg you to be a good fan, and HATE my team (Kings) with a passion. It only makes the rivalry that much better!!!

Glad to hear you are a hockey fan....we are some crazy passionate people.

And from what I'm reading from the Chicago news sites, I'm not sure if the Hawks know who to draft.
