You sure it was not a 1/18 scale car the MTV crew used trick-stuff to blow up to make it look big?

With an average salary of 1.1 million it is very easy to afford what he has.
...just think of what you could own if you made just 300k a year.

He probably rents his house and leases his car.

But, I dunno if this Malkin problem will make drafting Russian players superhard going forward...?
Is it just Russia that has this problem or do other European countries have it too? Cuz, you don't see Finnish or Swedish players run into this kinda drama...

Russia is the only one that hasn't signed the transfer agreement.. Only because they wanted more money for Malkin because he's the "Best Player Not In The NHL" or so they say.. They lost the upper hand with their players gone..
They want millions like the Europen soccer clubs pay for top players transfer..
Meanwhile their top 3 players have defected..

Some interesting info I found on the HF boards while they were debating the whole Crosby Ovechicken thing..
As post in an other section of the forum
I just d'ont understand why the fans, the media and some expert d'ont reallize the difference for a hockey player at the age of 18 and 20 years old.
2 years at this age is huge.
This is some facts.
first of all you have to in the history and find out some stars who played at the age of 18 and looking their evolution until 20 years old. Let me tell you that there is not to many good players who played at the age of 18 since the past 20 years:
the following hits hard to prove the point
Jaromir Jagr:/ Age 18: 57 points - Age 19: 69 points / Age 20: 94 points
Joe Sakic :/ Age 18: Played junior / Age 19: 62 points / age 20: 102 points
Mario Lemieux' /Age 18: born october (junior) / Age 19: 100 points / Age 20: 141 points
Wayne Gretzky:/ Age 18: 137 points / Age 19: 164 points / Age 20: 212 points
Ilya Kovalchuk:/ Age 18: 51 points / Age 19: 67 points / Age 20: 87 points
Patrice Bergeron:/ Age 18: 39 points / Age: 19: lock out /Age: 20: 73 points
Eric Staal:/ Age 18: 31 points / Age 19: lock out / Age 20: 100 points
This is phenomenal how the evolution is for each player between 18 and 20 years old
These are the facts with the exemple of some the best players of our era. it doesn,t lie.

Not a direct comparison for Ovechkin. Sure, his body is 2 years older than Crosby and he has more Junior hockey experience. But they have the same NHL experience.

I didn't say it was a direct comparison, it was a progression example from age 18-20.
I just found it interesting..

Not trying to take nothing away from Crosby, because mein gott is he going to be a great one. But, Ovechkin right now is a better player IMO. But, that's not to say that Crosby could overtake the Russian when he reaches the latter's age.

I love it when sports news is so slow that JP Dumont going to the Preds makes the front page on TSN.ca. I mean who really gives a shit about JP.
Even more dissapointing that Yumchah posted it when he should be in the TF thread commenting on Jazz.

Wow.. Zing.. That was a real good one.. :shakehead
Or we could waste our money on mediocracy..
There's a two week notice clause that can be used. And was used.. The most the Russian team will get is probably what the current Transfer Agreement is with Europe..

Wasn't supposed to be a joke. Since there is no agreement with the Russians the current transfer payments mean nothing, zilch.
The Russian team will agrue lost revenue with the loss of Malkin and from what I've been hearing up here, win. The 2 week notice means nothing since a contract was signed. What would be the point of a contract if you could simply walk away from it.
No doubt he'll pay in Pittburgh next year, but at what price.

Real amusing with the
Not sure they can afford that
The current agreement should be a basis on the cost of the player.
Why wouldn't the two week notice work? It's a legit open hole in the russian labor system.
And a contract signed at 3 am under pressure should hold up well.. After they claim when he was drafted that they'd let them play in the NHL the next year.

Please also refer to the Ottawa Senators and Velichkin with player Alexei Kaigorodov where Velichkin originally said he was letting Alexei go.. http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=175377&hubname=nhl
Then we find out the truth. Velichkin LIED again.. Alexei gives two week notice..
http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Hockey/NHL...95886-sun.html
DIRECT quote taken from link above..
"Though his decision wasn't well received by team brass, Kaigorodov acted within his rights. Russian law permits an employee -- even an athlete under contract -- to leave his job by giving two weeks' written notice."

How much did the Pens lose last year? Serious question. From what I've heard they are in serious financial trouble. Paying 3-4 million for a player that they could get for FREE in one years time doesn't make much financial sense to me.
And I'm no lawyer, but from what I've been hearing from lawyers on radio (Rod Becker in particular) it will take alot more than the usual 250-500K to seperate Malkin from his Russian team. They are not going to let this drop like they've done so many other times. He's worth alot more than 500K in Russia.
