It happens Yumchah. Fans fall in love with their own players and think they're the next Mario or Wayne. Sadly it happens to GM's too. How else can you explain Kessel and Phaneuf getting 8 and 7 mill per each. And Tyler Bozak, who? is making 5.5.
Pens fans should be asking themselves, if Hornquist is so good, why are they continually looking for wingers to play with Sid and Malkin?

This is something that constantly gets ignored. If Sid is so great, why do they need "special" players for him to be great? It's not a Pitt issue either, its come up in the past 2 Olympics as well. The best players make their line mates better yet Canada and Pitt are always looking for someone who can play with Sid.
And dude, to borrow a phrase from the departed Moog: Put down the bong. Sharp has played on TEAM CANADA on the Olympics. Won gold. 3-time Cup winner...one of the CORE of Chicago. A leader. Heck, he was skilled enough to win MVP at the stupid All-Star game (this counts for zilch IMO). Very responsible defensively and versatile enough to play center.
I can keep going.

How come we never hear about Chicago needing to find someone play with Toews or Boston looking for someone who can play with Bergeron?
@ BL's sig.
Although you may not yet realize it, you basically are now Toronto. Other teams and cities are laughing at you behind your back wondering WTF your GM is doing. Its going to be a long re-build.

Comparison-wise, Sharp is pretty much Jeff Carter. That's what the team getting him is receiving...
The only reason why Chicago will lose in this trade regardless is because every team and their srikas know that the Hawks are desperate to unload salary and also cannot take BACK salary...
In other words: Cap hell.

toews has kane. and hossa. and sharp. and saad. tons of secondary scoring. who do the pens have. malkin and crosby are on different lines, kunitz is almost 40, dupuis missed all of last season and perron was good for two weeks.
sharp has been in the league full time 12 years. he sucked on philly. hornqvist put up better numbers in nashville than sharp put up with philly, and has only been around 6 years. wait another season or two and you'll see his stats go up.

Dude, are you serious? I am not trying to be biased about Sharp but you're out of your mind to think Hornqvist is better.

five straight 20 goal seasons, he's not as shitty as you guys are making him out to be, and that's playing on nashville.
yea sharp has the cups and olympics but that's more of a being on good teams not as much as a reflection of his play... ok so five years ago I would have taken sharp, but now, and moving forward, give me hornqvist.

4-time 30+ goal scorer who averages around a 0.71 PPG clip...versus Hornqvist...a player who has never passed 60 points and scored 30 goals ONCE.
The latter: again...3 time Cup winner who is CORE player. NOT a lower-line ROLE player...but, KEY player to the Hawks attack and leadership...Sharp also can kill penalties and take draws.
Versus a pretty good Swedish player who can score but is not nearly as good 2-way player and as fast.
K, tell ME to put down the bong. What am I missing?

Say it again: GOOD. GOOD.
GOOD.
GOOD as in say, decent Top 6 player. But, look at teams...there are Top 6 players and then, there are Top 6 players. Patrick Sharp and KESSEL are the latter. They are part of the more elite group VERSUS, your beloved Hornqvist, which we AGREE is good...but, is not an ELITE player.
Wow, did not see this coming: Saad traded to Columbus...

The Chicago Blackhawks have traded left wing Brandon Saad along with Michael Paliotta and Alex Broadhurst to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for forwards Artem Anisimov, Marko Dano, Jeremy Morin and Corey Tropp and a fourth-round selection in the 2016 NHL Draft.

I just assumed you gave me the first sig, in hindsight it was probably ack. If it was yumcha, it would be rife with misspelled words.

The Pens also were in on the bidding to bring Saad back to Pittsburgh since he's from the area. 22 year-old players who are defensively responsible and can also score like that do not grow on trees...
Sad to see Hawks let him go but apparently, he was going to get an offer-sheet and Chicago did not want 3 draft picks and matching the apparently $6.5M per year hit was too much.
So, had to trade him. Anisimov is decent and Dano seems to be the wildcard...he could be really good.

So, Deano's greatest signing ever (he never signs a bad contract), Richards, was apparently the subject of an OxyContin investigation.
Richards was held for a number of hours at Emerson border crossing in Manitoba 2 weeks ago.
OxyContin is obviously code-speak for Finlandian refugees.

I watched the classic film "The Warriors" the other night (Warriors come out to play-yay *clink clink clink*) when I realized it was ridiculously progressive in it's portrayal of race and sport. You got white guys with base ball bats, white guys on roller skates, white guys with guns, but when all the black guys show up at the end nearly half of them are carrying hockey sticks and the majority of them are goalie sticks.
Way ahead of their time.

I never said that Hornqvist was better than Kessel
I said Horny goes to the net and that's the kind of winger that Sid needs
You guys crack me up

Keep dreaming, at least 1 of those 3 (not counting Martin) will be here next year
Semin is a center, Malkin doesn't like playing wing, plus they already got a Russian wing to play with Malkin
