Reaction to announcement of Tiger's Masters return
Mar. 16, 2010
By staff and wire reports
The golf community reacted to Tiger Woods' announcement Tuesday that he plans to return at the Masters.
Billy Payne, chairman of the Augusta National Golf Club: "We support Tiger's decision to return to competitive golf beginning at this year's Masters Tournament. Additionally, we support and encourage his stated commitment to continue the significant work required to rebuild his personal and professional life."
PGA TOUR commissioner Tim Finchem: "We were pleased to learn that Tiger Woods will be playing the Masters in a few weeks. He has invested a lot of time taking steps, both in his personal and professional life, in order to prepare for his return. We all wish him and his family the best as he rejoins the TOUR."
Jim Furyk: "We want the best player in the world out playing golf again. He's got to do what's best for him. I realize looking at the big picture it's good for everyone. What's good for the best player in the world is probably good for the big picture and the PGA TOUR."
John Daly: "Business as usual, him being inside the ropes, he'll be focused on what he needs to do. I really thought he'd play Bay Hill, a tournament before Augusta just to get it all out. ... The thing about Augusta is it's [one of the best] security tournaments of all. It's not like you can just walk in and buy a ticket, so it's tough and there's less crowds. ... It's going to be all business for Tiger. Me personally, I'm glad to see him back. ... I don't think it's a comeback for Tiger. Tiger doesn't have anything to prove to anybody."
Arnold Palmer: "Augusta is one place in the world that you can really have control, and they will control everything from the crowds to the situation that will be facing Tiger. I think that if there is a place in the world that you can do that and do it properly, Augusta will do that.
"He sounded good. He had some zip in his voice. He sounded just fine. He knows what he wants to do with his life and the way he's going to handle it, and I guess we're going to give him that respect. I would think for Tiger it's going to be tough. It's going to be something that's going to take him a little time to get used to.
"He expressed his regret for not being able to play. He said that he was sorry, that he really didn't feel his game was up to speed to start playing this early. "
Rocco Mediate: "I'm not going to change the way I think or feel about him. We need him back out here. ... Augusta is the safest place to come back. It'll be the most controlled place to come back. ... All I know about what he does is he will come back well over 100 percent ready to play. .... If anybody can cut through that stuff, he can cut through it. We'll see. I don't think it's going to knock him down too much. .... Would an unfair expectation be for him to win the Masters? No, it would not be an unfair expectation."
Heath Slocum: "Obviously, the ratings will be off the chart. It will be interesting to watch -- not only the reaction from him, but from the fans, the media, the players. I would venture to say he might be nervous."
Trevor Immelman: "I don't think it'll be that crazy. First of all, they can pretty much control whatever they want to control at Augusta National. ... There's a lot of history in that tournament. People know how to act when they go through those gates."
R&A spokesman Malcolm Booth: "We're pleased to hear that Tiger is to return to golf. ... Golf needs the world No. 1 to be playing."
Nike statement: "We look forward to Tiger's return to the Masters and seeing him back on the course."
Gillette statement: "Like many sports fans around the world, we're looking forward to seeing Tiger back on the course."
Electronic Arts statement: "We're looking forward to seeing Tiger back on the golf course. All eyes will be on Augusta in a few weeks."

What happen with him is between him and his wife, I say he a dick because of it. And a dumb ass for not just coming out saying what happened, when it did and be done with it.
Nobody seems to learn it's going to come out. In recent history we have Clinton, Edwards, just to name a couple.

holy cow Tiger Woods divorce settlement: £500m
http://www.metro.co.uk/showbiz/83349...rce-settlement
Tiger Woods' former wife Elin Nordegren has banned the shamed golfer from introducing any girlfriends to his children as part of their rumoured divorce settlement
The shamed golfer will keep single women away from son Charlie, 1, and daughter Sam, 3, according to the Sun.
Former wife Elin Nordegren, 30, is set to receive the biggest divorce payout ever seen, rumoured to be worth around £500million.
But in return, she will apparently never be able to speak about Woods' alleged flings with Rachel Uchitel, Jamie Grubbs, porn star Joslyn James and 17 other rumoured affairs.
A source told the Sun: 'Elin is desperate to protect the children from the womanising side of their father.
'Tiger's main fear is her telling her story after he's rebuilt his reputation, sending him back to the gutter.'
Nordegren is set to keep the family home in Windermere, Florida, along with a nearby property, an apartment in Stockholm and an island farmhouse.
Tiger will reportedly keep the £50m estate in Jupiter Island, Florida - the site of their new mansion - along with a £6m Los Angeles apartment.
Physical custody of the children is due to be attributed to Nordegren, though Tiger will share legal custody, meaning Elin will not be able to permanently relocate to Sweden.
The divorce is expected to go through within a week, with the source stating 'Everything's signed. Elin is ready to file for divorce at Orlando County Court. She expects to go in the next seven days.'
The source added: 'Elin admits that despite everything, Tiger loves his kids and has been a decent dad.
'She is confident he will not pursue seeing the children that much, due to his work and lifestyle.'

Tiger officially divorces.
I bet he will have fun partying with Phil Ivey and Michael Jordan.
Tiger officially divorces.
Terms of the divorce were not released, except that they will "share parenting" of their three-year-old daughter, Sam, and 19-month-old son, Charlie.
