Cubs: Fluke or Real Deal?
Half of my friends are White Sox fans and half are Cubs fans. Since my dad and uncle are die hard Sox fans, I have allegience to the White Sox. On the other hand, my gf's brother likes the Cubs, but doesn't mind the White Sox either.
Have you guys seen the standings, my Cubs friends say that it really is the year they go all the way and break the curse. I'm thinking, they make the playoffs, but not sure if they could get to the Series. If the Cubs are really serious of winning they should've gotten 1 or 2 more really good aces to compliment Zambrano. Ted Lilly, Jason Marquis, and Ryan Dempster aren't going to cut it I think.

I agree ... it looks like the NL Central is a tad weak but the Cubbies probably need solid years from the back end of their rotation to contend for the Series. Of course, anything can really happen in the postseason (i.e. who thought 'Zona and Colorado would be battling for the NL pennant) so just getting there is the important thing.
Can't trust Marquis/Dempster (Dempster looks like Braden Looper with St. Louis early last year .... pre-mean reversion) but Rich Hill could be a legit no. 2 or 3 if he gets his mechanics sorted out. The jury is out on Kerry Wood but if he falters, Marmol could always step in.

Too early to say.
But, so far, they look good especially when they slapped the supposed powerhouse Mets up and down the baseball diamond in their recent series.

^ It is impossible to turn around if you're on perma-backwards.

You wanna talk about perma-backwards?
Who won their last World Series in 1990 and who won their last in 1908?

We prefer to develop young talent instead of rely on washed up garbage like Marquis, Dumpster, Wood, etc.

Excellent point. Obviously the Reds are a baseball dynasty.

I can't believe the Rangers gave up Volquez with how their pitching situation is for a risk player like Hamilton. Only time will tell who got the best of that trade.
Dusty has been pissing me off so far. His loyalty to Patterson has been ridiculous. Last time I checked he was in an 0 for 22 slump before he replaced him. And he shouldn't be batting leadoff either with how terrible his OBP is. You have other options dude...use them!
And the whole thing about not wanting to rush Bruce is ridiculous. There's not a minor leaguer in all of baseball more ready for the pro's than him IMO.

The Cubs have a lot of talent and a lot of money, but the day games will eventually catch up to them, like they always do. Plus after this weekend they'll have played 36% of their games against the Pirates and Nationals. But they do look good to make the playoffs unless their announcers start picking on them.
Now the White Sux? Fluke city that they are over .500.

Cubs seem for real...but, I'm waiting for the gag to be up. Just watch, Zambrano is going to injure himself picking his nose. Wood will get injured brushing his teeth. Lee will get hurt buckling his seatbelt.
Season will be over.

That minor league team won a WS recently, mkay...!?!?
Gosh. You lose a game or two to the Twips and suddenly, the lips flap.
