"If all games had ended after six innings this season, the Mets would have finished the year 11 games ahead of the Phillies (aka, the team that won the World Series).
If all games had ended after seven innings, the Mets would have finished six games ahead of the Phillies.
And if all games had even been just eight innings long instead of nine, the Mets would have finished five games ahead of the Phillies."
Beezlebub,
Where can I get the same type of stats for all the MLB teams? I really want to see which team has the absolutely worst bullpen.

How old is he again?

Hmm...well, I guess I'm joining the NY-Mets-overpaid-Krod group...He doesn't strike fear into a team to me with a 1-run lead.
The lights-off closers in my books:
- Rivera
- Papelbon
- Nathan
Hell, I don't even have Jenks in that group. And K-Rod's release is too violent...I'd find it hard for him to sustain his success for too long without his arm falling off soon.

Luckily they only signed him for 3 years though.

Why don't you just cheer for the Yankees now? Double the pain or pleasure.

Oh by the way, you said to go look up CC's stats? So I did. 6-8 with era barely under 4 in the AL before the trade to the Brewers. I guess he was dominating in 08 before that trade? His era was over four in 4 of the 7.5 seasons he was with the Tribe. He had two good wining years. The other years he was a few wins over .500. Does this deserve $161 mil over 7 years? He chose the perfect time to have that dominating year...right before his free agency, which by the way was in the NL where most teams are facing him for the very first time.

And me being from NY has nothing to do with the stupidity coming out of your mouth. You want me to be nice to you? Fine, I'm sorry if i offended you, you are a delicate flower and deserve respect.

I guess you don't know what it means to be in your prime. Dude, give it up. If you knew anything about him, you would know that he started slow in April and lost every start, then went on to dominate the rest his starts, including the one's in the AL. He won the CY in 07 and was a top candidate to win it 2008. Find me perennial CY candidate who isn't going to get that kind of money.

I disagree with unanimity

It's funny how the Yankees try to buy a pennant every year and fail. The whole world knows you have the biggest bank roll. How about you do something with it?
Jerry Jones and Steinbrenner need to have their own league. Just because you have billions, doesn't mean you will win.
In two years, they will be asking for a bailout.

well between A-Rod, CC and AJ the yankees are paying 64.5 million a year. that is more than 7 teams for 3 players

I'm just happy that no one wants Manny Ramirez. It would be nice for him to have to deal with the consequences of how he left Boston and forced a trade by refusing to play hard. Yeah, the guy can hit, there's no arguing that but who wants a guy on their team who may just quit on you at any moment.

You win one world series and you think you are the Yankees. You're the joke.
Congrats, you beat a Mets team with a injured closer. Go read the stats, if every game ended after the 8th inning your beloved Phillies wouldn't have even made the playoffs. It took injuries and historic collapses for you to even get to the playoffs. You act like your team won, you didn't, we let you win.
Wait till the pieces fall in place, the phils are a 3rd place team at best.
Edit - I'm not sorry at all if this sounds hostile.
