You could say that about a lot of other teams. I think Portugal did a fair job to get here.

Thanks for the link man, I got tired of having to watch the advertisements before being able to see the game and also having to sift through all that other crap on the screen. (though if you double click the game while viewing it in 360, it'll go to full screen).

A fair job of diving? Maybe. In all fairness, the game against Holland should have been the last one. I have never seen such a bitch team. They should be playing against the U.S. Women's national team for the world cup.

I don't know about that PK still. The defender did miss the ball and hit his shin... however, he took 1 or 2 full steps before he fell... and when he fell he was not tripped. Weird...

I know, but that wasn't initially clear. So then why are the english pissed at Ronaldo?

Because he was involved in what went on.

I think Holland deserved to lose. They weren't very sporting when they played Portugal. Like you said, karma.

Although I will maintain the US were not as bad (good) actors as most. Scott Van Pelt on Sportscenter this morning said that an Italian player went down "as though he had been mauled by a mountain lion" during a highlight.

The diving is ridiculous, but its been a part of the sport for a long time. To be fair to the refs, they don't have the benefit of instant replays and multiple camera angles. Another reason I believe they should used instant replay as part of the referree system.

The keeper did get him pretty good however.

I have it on good authority that a mountain lion escaped the German zoo.

That will seriously slow down the pace of the game. I can understand the argument for using it to see about offsides, but everything else and it wont work.

I'll give the US credit there. They didn't seem to act as much as the other teams do. It gets annoying after a while.

I don't agree. Instant replay technology is incredible fast now. Play can continue, and judgement can be instantly called or reversed within 5 seconds.

Ok, so the ref calls a foul and it turns out there wasnt one. What then, a drop ball? Fuck that, this isnt football where the play stops every 5 seconds...soccer is a fast paced game, keep it that way.

I listen to this station on XM (148) and one of the hosts of the show suggested that the officials use instant replay after the game, to see which players are just taking dives and based on what they find they will take appropriate action. sounds like a pretty good idea, because I agree with him that using replay during the actual game would definetely hurt the flow and pace of the game.

yeah France is looking really good to start off the half, I wouldn't have expected them to make it this far based on their first few games.

Not a perfect world is it? At least that would cut down on bad calls. And I don't think it would change the pace of the game too much.

If I had my way, I would have the chief ref in the video room looking over replays. While the ref on the field would only call fouls if 100% sure of a infraction. Otherwise, the play would continue unless the chief ref 'buzz' a decision to the ref on the field.

Gotta go to work now.

Kind of like Italy got stronger and stronger...

France v Italy could be a good matchup (in case you didn't know the winner of this game plays Italy )...
