I've installed it myself and you don't need to cut anything out. You do have to drill into your bumper though.

Nope, not hard but very time consuming if you don't have anyone to help you put the bumper back on. Removing it is easy, but putting it back on by yourself is a biatch due to the added weight and one side being on the ground. It'll make things easier to put back on if you remove your wheels.

I might have stickers by this time. the local guy is being a pansy, which is normal for him. so i'm looking into two online dudes that can hopefully keep pricing similar to the insaneness i had locally. I'm probably going to stick to this version of the logo for now & keep it in a couple basic colors.

Service MDX near Marietta
I have a 2009 MDX which is still under warranty till end of 2013. Fellow Acura owners and gurus, I need your help. I have to admit I'm not very savvy with the internals of the car (maybe a gender issue). I have been taking my car to Jackson Acura in Roswell for scheduled maintenance service. No issues with them. They’ve been great. I am getting laid off this week and my car is flashing a “B1”.
I Googled what do others charge for service and came across this forum. I had never looked into it earlier. I would just straight away go to the dealer. I know there are places out there which can do a good job for less. I never looked into it because I do not understand all the mumbo-jumbo of automotive industry, so I am hesitant to try to other places. But now the $$$ is making me look into alternatives. I read on the forum a lot about “Drivers Automotive” and “Alan Cox”. I live in Marietta, so both those places are close by. Which one do you recommend? I just need regular maintenance service done. My only concerns are:
1. Does that void my warranty?
2. Are any of those places - female friendly, if you know what I mean? This is my top priority. I don’t want to land in a cheesy place just to save money. Respect and safety first!
3. Unrelated question – do you recommend buying extended warranty before it runs out in December? Where?
4. Another unrelated one – I have always put supreme gas (93 octane) in it because the place I bought it from told me to put Supreme and not Plus (mid range) as Acura states the gas should be rated 91-octane or higher. Mid-range is only 89. Is that really necessary? If not, can I switch to 89 octane (mid range) even if I have been always using 93-octane?
5. Any other money saving tips for my gas sucker, low mileage but lovely SUV, you can recommend.
Thanks a ton in advance!!

as a doorknob....caffiene and octane this month. be there foooooooo's
answers time for what I can:
3. Unrelated question – do you recommend buying extended warranty before it runs out in December? Where?
It's saved me from paying for a replacement trans on my 2nd Gen TL, I'd advise it pending its not outrageously expensive
4. IIRC, the J-series motors all are smart enough to retard the timing in order to prevent knock. However they can run the lower-grade fuel. In my experience, 93 always seems smoother & the ecu won't loose power by retarding to timing....in basic terms, the computer will recognize the lower grade fuel & change the tuning to loose a few horsepower but keep the motor safely operating. I'd just run the 93, I have ever since I got mine.

Hey axast5. Welcome and we hope to see you more active on this forum in the future.
As for a B1, it's just a tire rotation with an oil change. Everything else is mostly inspections. Has it been awhile since you had changed out your brakes? If not, you may want to inspect it to see if the pads are still decent. As far as Drivers Automotive or Alan Cox, there are a lot of good reviews for both. You may want to go to both and ask for a quote to see which one is to your liking. I'm sure you won't be steered wrong based on your gender.

1. Does that void my warranty? No, as it's just an oil change and tire rotation. It may cost more if you're going with synthetic oil.
2. Are any of those places - female friendly, if you know what I mean? This is my top priority. I don’t want to land in a cheesy place just to save money. Respect and safety first! See above.
3. Unrelated question – do you recommend buying extended warranty before it runs out in December? Where? I can't say as most of my 2 Acuras were covered within warranty and never had an issue ever since. It's just like insurance . . . you never know when you'll need it. Transmission wise, this is more solid than the 2G TL's transmission.
Yes, 93 is necessary. When we had the gas crisis and everyone ran out of 93, 89 killed my gas mileage in my TL and my car didn't perform as well.
5. Any other money saving tips for my gas sucker, low mileage but lovely SUV, you can recommend. It depends on your commute. Is it mostly city and a little highway or vice-versa? Jalopnik's article http://jalopnik.com/5953195/how-to-i...acing-your-car can help shed a little light on the fuel economy dilemma.

Since most of us are on the east side of Marietta, we can meet at Perimeter Mall to roll out together. Leaving after 10AM may be a little too early to get to the meet unless that's to stop and take pics, too.

If anyone knows of any good spots for pictures where we could stop on the way...SPEAK UP and we can meet a little earlier or possibly at that spot. The top of the deck at Perimeter is alright for pictures.
Sound good guys?
