I noticed that, too. I'll be rinsing off tomorrow night, most likey (provided it clears up like it's supposed to).

Yeah, I'm sure some of my coworkers are "working" from home.

Still snowing here. Based on my coworkers' line of thinking, I might have to leave early. In a couple of days, I'm going to buy a "I survived the blizzard of '08" t-shirt.

^Cool. Wonder if you'll get yelled at like I did when I tried to get it back on topic?

As for the blizzard, don't you love it, especially being from up north? I remember a few years ago (the last real snow we had), the only people in the office were originally from up north except for myself and one other person. I've lived here all of my life and I've driven in every snowstorm we've had since I got my license...I've never understood what the big deal was.

It's like a free day off.

What are you, a capitalist or something? Paid by the hour? What?

Run with it dude; screw the man and take his money.

^Huh? A free day off? Work's coming at me left and right, despite very few people being here.

And yes, I am paid by the hour. I was floored when I transferred to Accounting/Finance and found out they were hourly. The truly peon position I transferred from was salaried, and I had always assumed that professional positions were salaried. Guess not. Oh well, OT is nice it comes around.

Got to work it first, and I don't foresee any in the near future. It used to be consistent when it happened, but last year threw it all out of wack. Not really sure when to expect it this year.

Secondary Security Screening Selection

Basically, you get extra screening at the airport. Even when I use the govt fare, I get harassed by the TSA

I knew you could get pulled, but I never new it had an acronym. Of course, it's government, I should've known better . The last time I flew, they would get on people for things in their bags (major no-no's from the list), but no one got pulled for SSSS. I thought blatant violations of the rules would net cavity searches, but they were letting everybody through.

With SSSS, they pull you before you even get in line with the regular people. They give you the patdown, swab your items and you wait until they are done. It takes a good 7-8 minutes to get it done.

A one way ticket to your destination is a one way ticket to SSSS.

^^

It's "random" pre-selection when you get your boarding pass. If the boarding pass has "SSSS" on it, you've been selected.

Multiple one-way segments is a quick way to get "randomly pre-selected", so is flying from an airport different than where you live (say GSO instead of CLT).

All this talk about snow in the Carolinas and I am on a business trip in Arkansas. Just as cold as NC but no snow in sight. I wish I was home with my son and ripping up the neighborhood with my 400ex Honda. I am glad I parked my Acura in the garage at CLT. Nice and dry and away from that salt. That wrecks a beautiful car like ours. Back on topic bitches.....Jack and Vinny, is this your chat room?

BTW: I nevwer would have seen the day that Jack is getting internet at his own house....Did the boss say enough posting on the job, here is your own internet paid for by me?

Even after almost 4 years I still find it amusing. If we got 3-4" in NY you couldn't even be late for work. 8-10" or more they may let you get away with being an hour or two late.

I do understand some of the panic though as NC is in no way prepared for snow. They clear the interstates and the main roads to the interstates and city... and that's it. Then again, even though the temp never got above 31 degrees the snow was pretty much melted and street was dry by 2:30pm... and that never happens in NY.

And to show how we still have the NY mentality with snow... my wife left the house at 8am yesterday, went to uptown to pickup a co-worker, then went to Greensboro for lunch and afternoon meetings. She passed a one overturned car and about 6 or 7 off the road on the local backroads. She just took her time and was fine. She said she slid a bit, but she knows how to drive, so it wasn't a biggie. The only thing they did was move their 9am meeting to 3pm, but still, she was up there by 11am while most people still hadn't left the house

There wasn't that much snow...you'd have been lucky to make ten snowballs. I still need to rinse my car off. I was going to wash it this weekend, but now it supposed to rain.

As Vinny said, this is out chat room. You're welcome for us letting you stop in

Only getting it because I'll be able to work from home (just one day a week to start). I don't expect my personal usage to be much more than it was when I got rid of it five years ago (an hour or so a month). I wish they were paying for it...alas, it'll just be another triffle of a tax deduction.
