I love The Penguin. Cheap beer and great burgers!! As for the BBQ, when you're here, we need to go to either Spoon's or R&R...both have some of the best eastern NC BBQ you'll get this far west.
As for the food options, it was kind of tied to what was down there and with whom jb might be able to work something out. Personally, I was thinking of this as more of a lunch thing (quickie food and ice cream). After the meet, if anyone was interested, we could grab dinner in town somewhere. I know you'll be looking to get out a little. I'm down for making a day of it.

^^I haven't even been to any of the places you guys are talking about. I just moved to Charlotte from NY so I'm looking to get out more and get some good food. Chill_dog, any bars or restaurants you would recommend in the area?

If you want more laid back (nothing fancy by any stretch), Vinnie's and Tavern on the Tracks in SouthEnd. The Penguin in Plaza/Midwood has great food.
Sushi - Rusans off Park Rd, Nikko in SouthEnd if you're flush.
NY pizza - Luigi's Pizza on South Tryon (Tryon & 485 in the Wal-Mart shopping center)
Chinse buffet - Dragon Buffet (next to Luigi's Pizza) and Dragon House Buffet on Woodlawn (just east of 77).
I'm sure there's more stuff down your way, but I don't get down that way much. And obviously we have all of the standard chains.

Leave me as a question mark for now. If the meet goes down that weekend I may be out of town as my wife's 30th birthday is March 5th and we may be going away for a few days. Not sure yet.
Either way I'll setup the whole thing on my end whether I go or not both with the restaurant you want and my store... so that's no big deal.

i'm putting in my vacation request for work tomorrow and need to be certain no one is gonna flake out!
granted i'm going to drive up one weekend in march to see my sis and bro-in-law, but i'd love to meet up with you all while i'm there.

I'm down no matter what, except I'm not eating at Dish...highly overrated, in my opinion.

^Like I told blokhead, I grew a goatee again while I was on vacation (no mustache this time, though) so it seemed appropriate. Maybe I should grow my hair out again, too...work loved that.
