Good luck Lance! What car are you leaning towards more? Still the Fiesta? What about a Fit?

Need to have a car inspected prior to purchase. Anybody know where I can get a reliable inspection in Charlotte?

Well. I got to the dealership. Test drove the car while they appraised mine. It was alright. 2009 civic coupe. But I can't get over how much better my car is. :p It's gonna be hard to step down.
Here is the deal breaker. So they said they'd give me 10k for my car. Great! That's what I expected. But that they'd take off $700 for new "Acura" tires plus another $1500 because they know that the timing belt needs to be done soon. So that put it under $8k. This is a honda dealership mind you.
Here is where the bullshit comes in. Their argument for me to buy their car was that I would be saving money not having to pay money to get the maintenance done like the water pump and timing belt and new tires. Yet they will reduce the price of my trade in thereby making it so I lose the money either way. I called bullshit on them and that they needed to come up with a better reason for me to buy the car other than "saving" money that I would actually be losing in the deal. Considering that the TL is such a better car, they didn't have a leg to stand on so I walked. Maybe I'll just keep the car and do the 105k service and go on with my life.

No. I think I'll just leave it alone. Everything that has been happening lately seems to be directing me in one direction. So I'll just keep the car, do the maintenance, and I'm gonna go to school in Idaho. Been thinking about it awhile and it keeps looking better and better.

The cost is always the same no matter where you go because it is a federally set price. Even at the dealership. I just get my car done at honda. It's reliable and they'll aim your headlights and check your tire pressure for free if you're nice to them.

I don't really understand the question. That's why I didn't answer. Were you needing a car to pass that normally wouldn't? Like for really dark tint or no cats or something?? Or just a normal inspection?

Not sure yet. I'm getting insurance quotes on 3 different cars (all 2005/2006-ish): Honda Accord, Mazda3 Hatchback and Ford V6 Mustang.
I prefer the Mustang, but if the insurance differential is WAY out of line, we'll probably end up with something more like the Accord. Maybe a Maxima or Altima. Possibly a Civic.
I've got my eye on a couple of Mustangs with decent mileage and condition.

I'll be honest. If they are any kind of reputable used car dealer and they think you really want to buy the car, then they should have no problem paying for you to take the car where ever you want for a 120 point inspection. Preferably a Ford dealership for the Mazda and Mustang or a Honda dealership for the Accord. If they won't do that or can't do it themselves then they know something is wrong with the car.![2 Cents](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/2cents.gif)
If it's a private party then it may fall on you to fit the bill of the inspection. I say to just go to a dealership. Not only will they be able to tell you what is wrong or might need to be replaced, but they can also give you a printout of all the parts that would need to be replaced and the labor costs to fix it. That way it'll give you a better idea of whether you'd end up paying alot more for the car after you buy it or not. And if it is worth you messing with.

This morning, my wife, who works about 15 minutes from home, was stuck in traffic from ~7:45 until ~9:15.
1 hour 30 minutes. Due to downed power lines.

Yeah storm seemed pretty crazy although I left when still dark and couldn't check the house for damage. Limbs down all over the neighborhood road and the one local gas station lost half the trim going around its roof over the pumps causing all the pumps to be blocked.

South Charlotte traffic is still a disaster.
Just came back from leading my wife back to work; we took the "over the river and through the woods" route.
BUT Johnston Road north is backed up at least from 51 all the way into Ballantyne. Alternates like Lancaster Highway and Elm don't look much better. Police continue to restrict traffic on 51 in the Mall area.
You can get around OK, if you know the "back" roads; otherwise, I'd recommend avoiding anything within ~5 miles or so of Carolina Place completely.

Hey guys, just dropping in to say hey and see what's going on locally. I just picked up a AM 06' 6spd base this past weekend and loving every minute of it. I am usually down around Charlotte at least one weekend a month, so hopefully I will be able to make it out sometime.
Back on topic, we had a tornado warning up this way last night... and I didn't even wake up. Lots of wind damage to say the least....

Tornado huh? Crazy shit! The weather last night/this morning was intense. Lots of fallen down trees and such around here. Lots of car accidents as well. Many roads including part of I40 was shut down for a few hours.

Thanks for the welcome! I am in Morganton, about 30 miles west of Hickory, just off of I-40.
There was a lot of damage around the foothills, a couple of guys from work had sections of shingles ripped off their houses, window shutters, etc.. I lucked up and had no damage at all, one of the benefits of living in a brand new house I suppose.
