Newbie in riverside

Just wanna introduce myself. I'm new here and I just recently purchased my first Acura so that's why I'm here. It's a 2005 RL. Hopefully I'll get to meet up with some of you that live in my area or others that live in SoCal. Looking to go to meets, shows, events, track days etc. and meet people that are knowledgable about Acura's and cars in general. still trying to figure out how to post pics of my car but I will try to get them up as soon as possible.

Welcome Ghost! You'll notice it's a Ghost Town in this section of Acurazine. LOL

cool, I go to riverside often.

however, for being car modding central of the world, the socal section of this forum is surprisingly empty

Welcome. Nice ride, I had always liked that gen RL...the trunk spoiler really makes those asses look GUDE! And yeah, I usually don't stop by the SoCal section of AZine...too dead. lol.

Add the OEM body kit, rear spoiler, bigger wheels, and a drop and your car will look awesome!

White is my favorite color for the 2G RL

Search for pics of Touge's RL to get an idea as to how good a 2G can look!

Thanks guys!! Yeah I just got it and it's 100% stock so I'm not exactly sure yet what I want to do with it. I know for sure I want to play around with the lights, maybe do an LED conversion. Only problem is I'm fairly new to all off this and don't really know where to start or how to go about it. I'm not as car savvy as I would like to be haha although I hope to one day be savvy enough to do all these things myself.

Nice pick up. I was debating on getting a 2G RL before I picked up my car. And just FYI, I'm in Loma Linda. Doesn't seem like a lot of Acuraziner's in our area. But if you know Jay with the grape jelly TL, he lives out here too. Welcome to Azine.

Why do you say that? Are you talking about parts or just meets, track days, etc. Well I came from ClubRSX and there's way more things going on with them. Doesn't seem like a lot on Azine. If you're looking for parts, let me know. I have some friends that I can get parts through.

That's cool. I live in Loma Linda. Not too far from you. If you need any help with anything let me know. I will do my best to help you with any parts or anything else you may need help with. Love the RL by the way.

That's not too far. I use to live off of La Sierra. But I'm in Loma Linda now. I'm down for a meet and snap a few pics. I'll bring my camera also. Which SSR's are you on?

Yeah I know. I saw it a little too late. Haha. Man, I can barely make it to meets now. Well until it starts to warm up a little. I have a 9 month old at home and it's hard to find time to go to them. Maybe when she's older or it's warmer. Plus I don't like going because my car is so stock...

Well don't worry bro, if you got a 9 month at home than it's completely understandable! Take care of your family before you come out and play haha.

Don't matter how stock you're car is, just come out and enjoy the company of other car enthusiasts/azine members. But spring/summer is coming up though so we better see you out and about soon lol. If it makes you feel better, my car is almost completely stock too 👌

Yeah, family comes first. Man, your car is far from stock. Wheels and suspension are a good upgrade. And you have other parts coming in also. Right now I am back logged for a while. Hopefully in about a year I can start working on it.

That's you're main support, so keep them close! And Nah, it's basically stock lol. With a healthy drop. Only thing coming this year is the OE aero kit, splitter, sway bars, and diffuser. Possible boost but depends on my budget and the prices my sponsors will throw at me.

Can't wait to see you start your build, I love seeing other builds progress. It's cool seeing other enthusiasts create something unique from scratch.

Exactly. They are my main support system. That's a pretty hefty parts list. I am hoping to keep my car simple compared to my old car, but we will see.

Thanks. I can't wait either. I have plans and something in mind already. I just need to have money. Here's my old car though.

Looks awesome, I love the 05-06 models ! Needs more low haha
It's just goals I hope to accomplish, but things don't always go as planned so I might only end up with half of them.

Lol that's the most important part, money. Awh man, what kind of style are you aiming for ? Track? VIP? Stance?

I had a feeling you would say that about my old car, but that's what everyone said. I was maxed out up front though. And the rear sat even with the front. Left it as is. Eh, at least you're achieving parts. I'm not at all. Haha. Are you on coil overs?

Yeah, money is important. Haha. For my car, I'm probably going to do track, just like my prior car. I'm more of a function>form guy. Plus I love the track stance more than most. I want to run a 18x9.5 with 265 series or a 18x10 with 275 series. Haha.

Lol well, I like to sit over the tires or tuck them tires. My friend has the same problem on his rsx. He wants to go lower but his coils don't let him ! And yes I'm on coils.

Woah, 18x10 for track use ? Isn't that. A little too wide? Or are you just trying to achieve the track look?

It all depends on what coils you put on the RSX. Some go low, some don't. Have your friend with the RSX hit me up. I will help him out. I have a few ideas he can do to lower it.

Well I want it track look, but I also take my cars on mountain/canyon runs. So I need functionality. I want to have lots of grip. My old RSX was on 17x9 with 255/40 tires on them. So I do drive my cars hard. That's why I need proper wheels and tires. Haha

He lives in NorCal. He's on race land coils cause he decided to cheap out with 400 bucks. Told him to get something better but didn't listen. Now he's gunna buy new set of buddy clubs or something.

Lmao oh okay, canyon runs sound fun but I don't think my ilx would handle that great up there. Until I get some sway bars.

Ouch... Racelands? I heard they are okay, but only for lowering. Performance, not to sure about. Buddy Clubs are great, but he's going to hate that he can't lower it. My coil overs were built like Buddy Clubs and they couldn't go low at all. Good luck, but they are great for the price.

Man, I ran on stock sway bars on front and rear of my RSX for a long time before I switched out the rear to Eibach. You should be fine even with stock. Maybe the So Cal guys should do a cruise up to Lake Arrowhead one day. It's a nice drive with some nice curves.

Someone start a So Cal chat thread. Where we can just talk about anything and post pics of our cars.

Yeah, I'm tryna talk him into getting function forms since they are cheaper and you can go a lot lower. He just rides it for the look, doesn't track or nothing.

And you gotta remember, the ilx weighs a few more hundred pounds than the rsx. The weight that's being distributed on the stock like 13mm bars don't do anything. There's do much body roll it ain't funny lol

I see. If he's just getting it for low, then FF works fine. Or even Megan or K Sport. He should get something a little more dependable at least. Good luck to him.

Well yeah it weighs more, but it should still handle pretty decent. Is the stock sway really that small? I haven't even checked stock TL. I should. But I will probably upgrade later on in life. What's your curb weight on the ILX?
