Thumbs up TEIN H-Tech Springs (Nearly New)

Category: Steering & Suspension
Price: $130
Private or Vendor Listing: Private Listing
Part Fits (you may select multiples): TL 3G, Type-S Model
Location (State/Prov/Terr): CA
Item Condition: Used

Hi guys,

Couple items for sale below!

Tein H-Tech Springs
Had these on for literally one week (About 250 miles? Haha). Went with coilovers so now these are up for sale. A few very minor scratches from the install but these are nearly in new condition. These offer a great drop and ride smoothly.

Selling for $130 + buyer pays for shipping.

OEM Window Visors:
Here are the pics - the visors have regular wear on them. I'm the second owner of these, but I had them on for about a week and decided to not go with them.

I accidentally pulled off one of the brackets on the front driver's side visor, but it was easily glued back on and works just fine. I believe these visors would fit on perfectly even without the bracket. Just for due diligence, I put pics below.

Note that since it's used, the only thing you'll need to get is some double sided 3m tape from a local home depot. It'll go along the groove on the inside (top of the visor in the last pic), and across the inside of the brackets to make it watertight and secure it in place.

Price $115 shipped.

Nice price on the springs. Just curious, how was the ride over medium to large bumps? I had H&R Sports before and even though they rode fine on good roads, IMO they did not handle bumps well. On medium to large bumps the ride was jarring and felt like the suspension was bottoming out. I think the Htechs and H&R sports are the most comparible as far as drop and ride comfort claims. In your honest opinion were good sized bumps a lot rougher than when the suspension was stock? I am considering trying another set of springs, but I'm starting to get convinced than any lowering spring is just throwing the suspension geometry out of wack enough that it can't handle bumps well regardless of how "soft" the spring is.

I might be wrong, but the h techs look more linear than the h&r springs. Just look at the coil design, it's very close to the same "height" on each coil with the exception of the very ends. One might be able to argue that due to this design, it may ride evenly smooth across the whole suspension travel(with the exception of the bumpstop), instead of getting progressively stiffer toward the end. The H&R's have a lot of coils packed tightly for the rears.

I could be completely wrong though.

Nono, I think you're right. Also, along similar lines, the H-Tech springs differ in the stance in that there's less "rake" between the front and the back, especially compared to the S-Tech.

JTS, two things about the springs:
1. The drop turned out to be lower / more aggressive than what was advertised, but not too much so! I actually really, really liked where it ended up, and adjusted my current coilover setup to be in a similar position.
2. I expected the ride to be similar to stock ride comfort, just with better handling and a lower stance, and that's EXACTLY what I got. For large bumps, I did feel them a bit more, but the difference compared to the stock springs was actually not drastic - definitely didn't feel like I was going to bottom out all the time.. I actually didn't even bottom out once on the road, just one time going over an extremely tall speed bump in a parking lot... In regards to comfort, that's the exact reason I got the H-Techs over the S-Techs or H&R springs. I think Wil (Wilzrsx) and Bullseye (thread here) convinced me.

thanks for the kind words that was quick...the virgin islands are literally on the other side of the country - glad you got them already! you do want to pick up a little roll of double-sided mounting tape when you install. MAKE SURE THE MOUNTING TAPE IS PERFECTLY FLAT as the visors are supposed to be water-tight. Otherwise, you'll have to redo it all (like i did..... )

So, which coilovers did you get, and what did you achieve with the coilovers

I know right. It was pretty quick even during the holiday season. But I hate the fact that we get treated like a 3rd World country because we order things 90% of the time as and some companies/sites have ridiculous shipping prices or unable to ship to my location. It's a struggle at times but glad whenever I'm successful. I will pick up the mounting tape tomorrow after work. Saturday morning I will install.

Got me some Tein SA - rides nice, but the install was kinda rushed so even though my buddy and I finished, we had to go do other things and weren't able to decide on a more permanent ride height and fine tune. Gotta get it done soon though so I can get an alignment. I'll post pics in my progress thread when I do For now we set it close to what the H-Techs were already at since I liked the drop. (About 5/8 up on the coils all around)

I know exactly what you mean. I'm from Hawaii so when I lived there we had to deal with that junk all the time. U should post some updated pics in your progress thread when you get them on! Also, there was obviously some cosmetic wear on the visors already. If you want to polish them there are a few threads on here that detail how to do it well and cheaply. I think just getting meguiar's plastix and buffing it should do the trick

oem shocks had a lot of miles on them and looked like the previous owner put a lot of wear on them. one of my oem shocks blew. from then it was an option between getting aftermarket shocks or just getting a full coil kit. i liked the idea of adjustable dampening so went with the coils (though of course coilovers are a good amount more expensive)

ok just trying to pry out of you why you decided to spend extra to get the coilovers. If you liked the ride height, then that added expense in coilovers would be a lot for just a little bit of "damper adjustability"
Anyway.. I agree about the "rake" is really excessive if you lower the front too much more than the rear. Because there is already a good slope on the front of these cars and lowering it makes it really excessive in my opinion. If you think about how much bigger the rear is, than the front, it seems reasonable to have the front slightly higher. Because the nose is so small compared to the back.

also, in your opinion, how does the ride and handling differ on the coilovers compared to the htech's?

Why not? Though admittedly it was an impulsive buy, as you can see in my progress thread, don't I have the right to buy whatever I want? Haha
I'd understand you prying at a certain level if I was a new member and if these were springs that nobody's gotten before (neither are true), but since those are not the case, I suggest looking at the very positive feedback I've already posted from other users above on the springs. Additionally, I've already commented above about how I enjoyed the ride quality and was satisfied with them.

Yes, this is one of the big reasons I like the stance of the H-Techs better than the S-Techs. I'm glad you agree.

This question doesn't really make sense because you're comparing apples and oranges, as a coilover becomes whatever you want it to be. If I adjusted the dampening all the way to the stiffest, the ride quality would consequently be very rough and unpleasant, but perhaps I'd be able to turn on a dime. If I set it all the way to the other side, it would likely feel like I'm riding on a pleasant cloud, however it would be a cloud that would bank/roll in turns and would therefore not handle as well. I haven't even finalized the setup on the coilovers, but I can comment (again) that the H-Techs were pretty dang nice (ESPECIALLY for the price) while I had them on - offered a ride quality similar to stock comfort, while improving handling due to a lower center of mass and changing the stance to what I liked (pictured above).

actually I was interested in buying them. And I wanted to know why he switched. Because hell, I may want coilovers too. And just because he said the Htech's ride nice once, you know opinions vary, and people say anything to sell something. So I may want to hear it again.. do you mind?

And yes, you can buy anything you want.. Did I say you couldn't? But if you guys want to get all defensive over a few questions, then I can argue about it if you want too..

And yes, my question does make sense, because even though a coilover can be whatever you want it to be, that does me no good on my car. Because I wont be changing it. And if the Htechs ride and handle good, then I would rather buy that because its a ton cheaper. I mean since it does have a good height and not too low.. as you said.. ( so that's 2 things we agree on)

But no.. you guys gotta get a chip on your shoulder. toughen up. Just answer the questions. That's what a salesperson does. They answer questions plainly and don't get their feelings hurt if someone wants you to repeat yourself 1 time so I can get a confirmation that these are what I want, and that I feel comfortable that I am not missing something on the coilover side of things..

Thanks! I made up my mind.. I'm not buying them. haha I'm going with coilovers too.. And Btw,.. I will prolly get the same ones you got because they allow for lowering less... if that makes sense.

And by the way, I wasnt going to respond to your comments or your take on my questions until paperboy stuck his head in where it doesnt belong.. (as usual) That's why paperboy has 400,000 posts.. because he's always yacking

Whatever. No offense but you're pretty rude. You could gather information in a much more cordial way - not through interrogatory speech and impertinently starting arguments. It's not about getting defensive at all - I have nothing to prove, and neither does paperboy. You're just rude, that's all.

Anyway, currently getting shipping quote, sale pending.

bump, price reduced to $130+Shipping!

Mods could you please change the price in the original post and in the thread description?
Also, since the window visors are sold please re-categorize the listing as for suspension instead of accessories.

Thanks!
