Swapped Tein S Tech for H Tech

Well about 3 months ago I installed S tech springs.
the rear was ok very light drop, but the front went down
a lot and once settle my front was slammed if me and my girl
was in the car. This became a hassle since I live in NYC
I decided to go with H-tech springs was gonna go for The
A-spec but looking at some cars I got scared cause the drop
looked almost stock on some and I was not sure which part number
was the correct for 6sp drop.
The H-tech made a hell of a difference. the car no longer bottoms out
and actually handles better. The ride quality improved dramatically
feels like I'm back to stock.
Never going any lower than this.
H-tech

S-tech

Thanks for posting this. I was in a toss up between the S and H tech with my Aspec suspension. I do not want to be that low so H's I go.

I wish my stechs up front were that low and the rears lower. Sounds like the city is your problem here, or you just have to drive 10mph everywhere you go. Got to sacrifice comfort and speed when u go low.

yeah city is my problem. I'm sure if I lived elsewhere I would have kept the S-tech.

Glad I could help. Worst thing is to be unhappy with a new mod you spend good money on.

I kept the S-tech in the rears The drop is small which I was happy with.
my car now looks even all around compare to before I had the Rake look

Exactly!
I see your car and I want the S techs love your stance
But then I see OP's and get scared of the S techs
Makes me say "F that, I want H techs"

OP, did you happen to get your Tein S on eBay?
I remember years ago there were a LOT of china made/fake "teins" on eBay. This was like 6 years ago during my Nissan days... Maybe it's changed

I'm usually part of the "needs m0ar low" club, but I think the H-Tech's give just the right amount of drop to lose some wheel gap while not sacrificing drivability. I think I'm gonna go with the H-Techs when the time comes to drop mine.

Hmm literally just ordered some S Techs.. should be coming in this week. Wonder how mine will pan out.. not looking for a huge drop but something aggressive. Don't have the A spec so I wont be scraping or anything.

By the way if anyones looking for either pair.. AutoAnything.com has the S techs for 170 and H's for 180(?) and if you're a new customer the code first15 gets you 15% off. Free shipping. Just bought some S Techs for 145 free ship. Putting them on when I get them with stock shocks that have 84k on them

The bigger ur wheels r da more tuck the springs drop will be. I say coilovers over springs anyday because u can adjust them really low or ur favorite height, but if ur on a budget and jus want a drop then springs is da way to go. Im a low riding slow driving kinda guy so if it came to springs i would choose s techs but h techs dont look so bad

FIY: H Tech and A-Spec is the same drop the difference is not even noticeable to the naked eye.

FIY: The (H) in H tech stands for HIGH, which is exactly the height your car is at after installing them. But then again you said you were slammed on s techs with people in the car and S tech's are nowhere near slammed even with two 300 pound dudes sitting in the front seats so i can imagine an inch drop is low for you.

I'd have to disagree
H is lower, with more of a rake too
Been doing a lot of comparison lately on this forum

I'd love to see more comparison shots if people would like to post though!!

This is true. My car definitely looked lowered with the H-Techs. I've seen pics of cars with A-Spec and it doesn't really look lowered.

Well it all depends on wheel, tire, and other variables. Two cars can have the same springs but one appears higher or lower than the other.

When first reading BULLSEYE forum, I was sold on getting the Tein H-tech springs. After reading everyone else's thoughts and opinions, I'm a little lost on which springs and or suspension kit I should get for my TL-S.
I don't plan on keeping stock wheels on my car. I'm wanting to get Vossen VVSCV3 19 x 8.5. A little advice or guidance would be great.

I dint get A-specs mainly cause of the same reason most people are scare to get it. looks too close to stock. With the H tech you can def tell I'm lowered.

could be cause of the bigger wheels
up front I have 19x8.5" wheels on 245/35/19 tires
I think your drop looks really good.

I got mine of ebay, but they look pretty legit to me.

The car rides great even with low profile tires I have zero complaints with the H-techs. If I was on stock wheels it would probably feel just like stock.

Thanks. Mine rides just like stock just a bit softer surprisingly. Also I am planning on keeping the stock wheels on for now. Currently running spacers with stock wheels.

Im sure they also told you to not go for springs AT ALL if you have the extra money get a full coilover setup instead so you can fully adjust the height and how soft or firm the ride is. You want to have some flexibility when it comes to your suspension, with my previous car in the winter i would raise it back to stock height due to the snow and what not then when the spring rolls around i would drop it back down 2 inches. Best investment ive ever made for the car and i will never buy lowering springs again.

Thanks! Appreciate the help
I planed on getting the whole suspension kit. And actually got into an argument with my husband about that (he was wanting to cut corners and just by the springs) last night. I did lowering springs a while back on my Civic HB and was not happy at all, especially when it snowed.

the larger wheels makes the car look lower. I have seen many pictures on here, and there is 1 post on azine that is specifically only wheels. And people posted wheel size and tire size. And every car with 18's or larger looked lower on the same springs than any car with 17's. It is very consistent but you have to pay attention to the details to acknowledge it. I think only IHC and I were the only ones that pointed that out. Anyway, I agree, I would not want to go lower, or "look lower" than what utah801 is now.

I know I'm reviving an old thread but I just installed my Tein S Tech's tonight on my 04 TL and the rears were a lot lower than the fronts, does it just need some time to settle? There is no gap in the rear but the front has about a finger to a finger 1/2 gap. Oh and I have 17x8.5" wheels and 235/45/17 tires.

Yeah, mine was that way too slightly...I even measured all four corners to confirm. But my rear camber was out after install...especially on the drivers side. So I got a camber kit and had it realigned to correct the camber and it seemed to make it look a lot better. I'll try and find some pictures before and after the camber kit.

These are the best shots I could find:

Right after install (before camber kit)

After camber kit and alignment. It's hard to see much of a difference- but trust me it helped.
