OK DIY guys... who has one, and took their's apart, has a schematic for those connectors and knows were to get just the harness. Seems ridiculous to pay $100 for a line-in! Especially when its a std feature on the newer models?

Do we need a resistor between 2 pins to tell it there's a CD changer there or what???

 

If you're willing to live without the XM, you can hack into the harness. Off the top of my head, I don't know the pinouts, but I'm pretty sure that everything you need to know is already on this site. Start with the FAQ section.

Also, when searching, look for the "PIE AUX-3" technique of adding aux. You only need the AUX-3 if you're going to switch other devices in (such as the XM). If you don't feel like hacking the stock harness, you can get a harness from Honda that's about $40.

 

Looking to just get an single AUX in non-Nav non-XM vehicle...

feuss2, its been done. There are threads here with pinouts on how to tap into the XM signal at the kick panel (and make a switch for the sources) or at the center console for 06+ TSX models. If you're looking for something specific, post it and I can try to find it in the ETM for you.

^^^He has a 2004 TSX Reach. The 04's don't have an XM signal. The 2004's also don't have an aux in. feuss2, I think what your asking for isn't something as simple as tapping into a line. Not to say it can't be done, but trying to convince the HU to think that there is a cd changer installed I think would require alot more work. I hope you find your answer. You could find some aux in adapters for alot less than $100 now. I think the material and parts that you would need to accomplish what your trying to do wouldn't be that much less than just purchasing an adapter. Just my

 

Oh! Good point Masterpoolcat, thanks. feuss2 you would need to use the aux port at the bottom of your HU. This is just where adapters plug into in the first place.

And for those with 06+ TSXs, this *should* be the correct pinout for the center armrest aux input jack. I haven't confirmed this one yet. The notes are mine, so don't take them as gospel.



I believe the 'sensor' that enables the aux input to be selected is triggered by grounding aux-det. Then, tap into each side's + signal, and they share a common ground (SGND). All this info is unverified, its just my understanding from reading the manual.

Thank you very much! This is very helpful info. Signaling the bus for CD-C Mode seems like an overcomplicated solution just to get a line-in. I'm sure that's what the SNHOND3 is doing, which is great for people that actually want to hook a cd-changer up.

With the factory XM setup (which I do not have) does it actually say AUX on the screen of the HU? If so, that would indicate that it can somehow it knows is has to take a line-in from something other than a cd changer. Have they bothered to make some signaling circuit for that? Seem like there would be something a bit more simple... Do you know what type of Bus that is?

 

No, its enables 2 modes, "XM1" and XM2". The only difference is that you can have more presets. Its got to be complicated, because its the only mode that enables text on the navi. station, artist, and song info are displayed.

CD-C mode is the only way you (read: 2004 TSX owners) can get a straight line-in. I'm not sure what kind of bus it is, but I believe you only need to get the bus hot to enable the line-in. Other abilities are so the factory controls (track up/down, next disc) etc are enabled. I think all the SNHOND3 is doing is bus+/- and line in, exactly what you want. More complicated ones like the usa spec also utilize the track/disc functionality, and convert those signals to interface with an iPod or other unit.

Yeah, I had the same thoughts, $100 for a converter? Then I looked at what I would have to do to make a clean install and suddenly the $70 for the PIE version seemed like chicken feed. Hoping to put it in today

After that, it is time to tap the pre-amp signals and run them to the trunk, with power, and put some amps in there that don't use the heavily shaped signal from the 6x9s.

Can we get more info on using the CDC as a line in for an Aux input? Why is there no write up about that. I dont need Ipod integration.

Car had a dice when i bought it... Never even used the Ipod integration only the aux in... Now it only plays to right speakers. The dice unit is defective

 

Is there any more info out there on this? I ordered the PGHHD harness and I'm going to try wiring something up over the weekend but could really use some more information.

Does anyone know where that pinout for the 14P connector was posted from? I checked my manual (1st gen tsx) and it just says unused.
Also does anyone have more info on how to signal the BUS to trick it into thinking something is plugged in? What's the +/- BUS?
