I love Autocrossing. I go almost every weekend up here in CT. It's SO addicting.
The Z is pretty good at AutoX, but it's better on the courses that have longer straight-aways as it's a little heavy for the smaller courses.
The S2000 and Z are both in B-Stock. I usually get beat by the S2000, but it's usually very close

It doesn't really matter which car you drive. It's fun nonetheless. The CL is in G-stock, which has some pretty fun group to compete against.
Here's a great link to see the categories and the cars that fall within them:

It looks like you probably arent going more than 35 mph on that course. I dont know, I have been thinking about doing an auto-x, but it doesnt look like that much fun.

It totally depends on the course. I raced once once where I hit 72mph, and others where I barely hit 40. No matter the speed though, it's still a total blast. You do things with your car you never realized you could. I highly recommend it

I live near Limerock, and I'd love to race my car there, but with AutoX, the worst you can do is run over a few cones, not hit a tree, another car, or a cement barrier at 100+ mph

My friend's been trying to get me to autoX with my Maxima but, IMO it handles like crap. I dont find 'barely holding on' to be that entertaining.
If my wife gets the 325Ci vert she's been eyeing, i'll be on the autox circuit in no time.

I'm sure as the season goes on, it will be dropped down to F or G Stock
I have my first autocross coming up in 2 weeks. Any tips for a noob?
Car is totally stock (except for the trunk liner, which has to be good for an extra 2-3HP
)
I asked my STI-driving friend and he's giving me terms like "drop throttle oversteer techniques" which don't mean much to me.
All I know is when I hit the off ramp too fast, my front tires feel like they are snowplowing (like on skis) and they make a low humming sound which turns into a squeal if I go faster.
I reckon the CL-S is not the ideal car for this sport, but like some of you have said, its often more about getting to know the limits of your own car than competing for a better time against someone.

- Make sure you walk through the course at least 2x before running. One of the most difficult things is staying on the course, so try to get a good visualization of the course before you run
- Drive smoothly. I can't stress this enough. Don't stab the throttle or you will waste time smoking your tires and sliding.
-Take your first run slowly, try to stay on the course, get a feel for how your car performs, then each successive run, build your speed
