As someone about to start a J-swap on my S2000, this is the news I like to hear. Love that OEM reliability.

Tranny replaced when it went out back at around 135K miles if I recall. Other than that, zero issues! Original alternator, original power steering pump, etc. Doesn't burn any oil, about 10K miles ago replaced front struts, rears are still original.

Wow!

You got your money's worth, that's for sure!

And now, you MUST take the car in, get a compression test, and put it on the dyno! Well, not really, but I am a bit curious. Can you blame me?

233+k

233K+ and counting. All systems, except transmission are original. Other than regular maintenance, the performance, operation and comfort of this car are astounding. Engine uses less than one pint of oil, between 5K change intervals. White diamond pearl paint, and ebony trim still in remarkable condition. I find it quite IMPRESSIVE, that a 15 YEAR OLD CAR, any 15 year old car, built in 02/2002, could provide this level of service, comfort, and PURE driving pleasure. I am currently in the market for a 3G TL, only because I like the design, and trim on the 3G models. I am quite confident, my 2003 TLS will easily surpass the 300K mark with no major issues.

I just bought a 2000 TL with 181k and it had all service records and it had a new torque converter and transmission overhaul done at 142k. So what are the chances of me having to do it again and has anyone had longterm success after thats been done?

My 2003 has 196,000 miles

Transmission was replaced in 2005 at 22,000 miles under warranty. Nothing at all since then. But there is beginning to be a stutter in 3rd gear under acceleration. So the transmission is probably on its way out. I will probably have a remanufactured trans put in in the next few months to get to 300K.

I'm not all that keen on putting an AV6 trans in since 1 - I don't know where I would get one in the bay area, then I'm not sure where a shop would do the swap. 2 - My glass transmission has lasted 175K miles with zero issues (drain 3 qts once per year) so if I can get another 175K out of another glass Acura transmission, I'll be happy.

Took my car to the dealership to pick up a part today and my car practically fits right in with the newer Acura's haha. When you pamper these cars and treat them right, they're timeless.
