Hello All,
Planning to replace the sumitomo that came with my 2007 Acura TL Base, 235/45 A17,
Would appreciate your suggestions on the replacements between the following 3:
Primacy MXM 4

Looking for a smooth ride and good on wet roads
Thank you

I have posted this before in the many tire threads that have come before....compiled info off of TireRack.
I have MXM4 today, so that was my baseline to compare and rank against it. If it isn't better than the MXM4, I have zero interest in it. Please keep in mind...I like the MXM4...they meet my needs just fine and dandy. I just hate the price.
Also to note, I did not include winter results in this since it wasn't critical to me since I have dedicated winter tires. I have those numbers compiled as well...just don't usually look at them.
Premier A/S has a lot going for it for smooth and quiet considering it should be better than the MXM4.
Cinturato P7 AS+ seems to have weak wet and dry traction scores (at least weaker than the MXM4).
Based on just the numbers, the DWS06 especially at the price point, appears to be a good choice.

One of the things I like most about the Cinturato P7 AS+ tires is the extra tread width:
- 8.7" Cinturato P7 AS+
- 8.3" BF Goodrich G-Force Comp-2 A/S
- 8.2" Michelin Premier A/S
- 8.1" Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+
- 8.0" Michelin Primacy MXM4
- 7.8" Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06

Consumer Reports top recommended UHP All Season tyiz list:
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+
Pirelli PZero All Season Plus
Continental ContiExtremeContact DWS06
BF Goodrich g-Force COMP-2 A/S
Also, Tirerack says the new General G-Max AS-05 may be worth a look at as well.
Bottom line, you can't go wrong with any of these.

My MXM4s were fine for the first 15K miles or so, but the rubber hardened up and had less dry traction for the remainder of its tread life (48K+ total).
The MXM 4 is a Grand Touring tire, which prioritizes quieter ride, while the others are Ultra-High Performance Tires that prioritize handling a little more.

You won't go wrong with any of these 2.
I had the following tires mount on each car
Lexus IS300 --- Continental Extreme Contact
TL-S --- MXM4 on the rear and they get noisy as they age (5 years old) I got Pilot Super Sport on the front.
TL --- Pilot Sport A/S3 Plus all four corner
RL --- Pilot Sport A/S3 Plus all four corner
From what I understand the PSS wear faster than Continental but they offer more grip in dry and wet. Extreme contact has better grip than the Pilot Sport A/S3 Plus.
