Ignition coil connector

So I have a faulty ignition coil connector. The plastic clip that clips onto the ignition coil. I just want a couple opinions. Am I safe to just cutt off the old clip and soder in a new one properly shrink wrapping it and such for weather resistance. Or am I going to have to change the whole wire harness. Any opinion appreciated 'Tia

why do you want to cut the pigtails?

its funny because you ask but dont give a reason. maybe there's a better solution for you...but you need to explain whats going on

If you have a replacement connector, most pins can be removed from the original
and inserted into a new connector, so look at it closely. Use a pick to push pin lock
down, then pull from connector.

Coil

Long story short the coil Forbes super hot a malfunction resulting in the little clip being damaged. It no longer stays in place and is causing a misfire. So I'm just wondering if I can splice into it and add a pigtail no problem or I should just swap the whole harness

Do not cut the wire if possible. Instead depin the connector and replace the defective connector with new.

Terminal tool

Lol the ignition coil got really hott and melted the plastic clip from the engine harness. So now the cylinder 1 coil pack clip will no longer stay in place and is causing a misfire anytime you hit a bump or it gets loose again

GOTCHA...

de-pin and replace the connector itself rather than cut and solder, a lot of room for error there.

or duct tape

Guess it needs to be in bold.

Use a stay tie in the interim.

Let me edit this Use a stay tie in the interim.

Did you ever order a replacement ignition coil connector? Tab just broke on mine. Did this site work? Which did you go with?

I had the same issue due to the constant heat cycles and basic spark plug servicing. What I ended up doing was purchasing a pack of 6 coil connectors to replace the old, dry and broken connectors. You can use a very small de-pinning tool to also pull the tabs up for the connector pins and to install the new items. The connectors are also very cheap! If you're replacing two, you might as well replace all six while you're in there so you won't need to replace each one as they break.
