Hondabond question

Is there like a “margin of error” on this stuff? Or if u use the slightest incorrect amount will it leak or break off and cause issues? I re-sealed oil pump yesterday but kept second guessing myself and wiped off the hondabond and re-applied numerous times before i felt satisfied enough to install it. Even installed now im wondering if i used a bit too much or perhaps not enough in a few spots.

Having done this exact job 10 months ago that I most likely need to re-do in the very near future, I can tell you firsthand.... more is better than less (to an extent).
I was probably being a bit too frugal with the HondaBond being fearful of it getting into the engine internals, but as long as you give it adequate time to cure, should harden up no problem.

It kinda sucks the FSM doesn't state a spec of how thick to apply it, but I think I would strive for 1/4-3/16" thick.
