Security System Not Working

Hi , I seem to have a similar issue with the alarm as well. The problem with my 08 is that when I press unlock the lights on the exterior flash and work, however when I press lock again you can hear the locks click but I get no beep and no lights on the outside. Also, my driver side security light does not flash indicating that the alarm isn't armed. Does anyone know what the problem might be ? No horns or beeps while locking or unlocking the car and lights only flash when unlocking.

Open one window, close all doors and lock it with remote. Then pull bolt on doors to unlock them and open door. This way you will know for sure if alarm is dead.

Yea so I just did that, and no alarm went off.

Me thinks one of your door lock actuators or hood latch sensor is dead

So your doors lock and unlock but the alarm does not arm. If fuse #7 is good, then it has to be an issue with either the hood latch or the trunk latch or the associated wiring. (It also could be the MICU, but I doubt it).

You can rule out the door switches because the doors would not lock if one of those switches was "open".

Have you done anything recently with the hood or trunk? Try open and reclosing the hood first and see what happens. Then try the same with the trunk.

So the previous owner actually hit this car in the front and I thing the hood latch sensor is gone but I cannot confirm because it's all connected properly . However what if I disconnect it would that work?

my bad 😁, okay so I bought this car about 3 months back and basically the previous owner drove into a trailer hitch at a very slow Speed . She basically ruined the bumper and hit the Frame a bit but she did not destroy the radiator. The hitch was facing up words where the hood latch was and I think it could've been damaged. I had the carproof and it wasn't reported because it was minor. So the front end hood latch I think is messed . It works fine and every connector is attached. However I don't think the sensor is working and making a whole circuit.

So has the alarm ever worked since you've owned that car?

If not, then it's quite possible that the accident broke the wiring leading from the latch. I'd guess that is more likely than the latch itself being damaged. See if you can trace the wiring from the latch.

so panic works and I honestly never tried the alarm before. I noticed that the lights wouldn't flash at night when I locked it. That's when I realized that maybe I should look into my security system.

Disconnect that connector and test it for continuity on the latch side of the connector. You should have continuity with the hood open (latch released) and no continuity with the latch pushed down (hood closed).

what do you mean by continuity ? Is it suppose to do something specific?

In electronics, a continuity test is the checking of an electric circuit to see if current flows (that it is in fact a complete circuit). A continuity test is performed by placing a small voltage (wired in series with an LED or noise-producing component such as a piezoelectric speaker) across the chosen path.

lol I don't think I have anything to test with in going to take it to a mechanic soon and let him check it out.

You can buy a continuity tester or multi-meter for under $15 at any Walmart/Kmart or a local auto parts store may just test it for you....
