Sound System not working in the morning or when cold

Hello everyone, it's great to be here. My name is Curt, and I have a 2010 RL / Technology package, factory Bode sound system, and 45,000 miles. Recently, the temperature has gotten colder here in Texas, and now the sound system refuses to work in the morning, or whenever the temperature is cold. The system functions work as normal (radio, XM, disc, etc.) but when I go to turn up the volume, no sound comes out. I can go to maximum volume and there is still no sound. It will work when it's warm and most of the time if it's not in the morning. When I go into the built-in diagnostic mode, it occasionally gives me a hardware error with the mic and everything else is green. Could this be related? Thanks everyone in advance for the help, and I look forward to being a member here in the future.

temperature causes metals to expand and contract. PCB's and electronics are usually very suscetible to constant weather changes so it can be related.

I totally agree temperature can play a part, but it's only been 60 degrees here. Yes, that's cold for Texans, but not for electronics. If that is the real root cause, that's a bad failure mode.

Regarding justn's deleted post, automotive amplifiers are bench tested at cold and hot. That can be -40 to 110 degrees C. It costs a lot of money to do a warranty claim on a car. A failure within a <$1 chip can result in over $300 of cost to correct if the failure happens in the field.

Thanks everyone for the replies. What should i do regarding the fix/ what do I tell the Acura dealer? I failed to mention, I have a Bumper-Bumper Platinum MPP warranty if that helps in any way. Thanks again everyone!

It's most likely your Alpine(?) head unit or Bose amp. If those are covered under your warranty, then use that to your advantage. Otherwise buy a used replacement.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I apologize for the extremely delayed response, its been a very hectic week and I've been extremely busy. Regarding the head unit/amp replacement, Acura says that the system has to be sent in from California, is this true? If I have failed to mention it, I really do appreciate all of you for taking the time to respond to my post and help me with this very frustrating issue.
Regards,
Curt

No one here can likely tell you exactly what's wrong or how it needs to be fixed. Acura doesn't fix the stereo, so I can believe they would want to send it off. Did they say it was the headunit or amp that was the culprit? Is it covered by warranty? If it is, let them do whatever they need to fix it.
