Passenger side B-pillar noise

My '14 PAWS RLX with 33,4xx miles has developed a rattle noise at highway speeds (+50 mph) from the B-pillar area. Can hear when in passenger seat but not from drivers seat. Happens at highway speeds. I have had the window sash replaced but the ticking/rattling is still present. Any thoughts or solutions before heading back to dealer?

Check the seatbelt guide that is on the B-Pillar....I had that on me 2015 RLX P-AWS.

Occasionally, I hear a rattle behind both b-pillars over bumps at any speed. I think it is a loose wiring harness or possibly something else other than the seat belt guide. The rattle is still there when I hold the guide over bumps.

Maybe this will give you an idea of what it could be behind there making the noise, and where it is exactly:

The seatbelt guide was the first item I checked - moved it up, down, held still in place but noise was still there. As mentioned it appears during speeds above 50 mph - the initial reason I thought it may be the outside trim pieces on the pillar. Those were replace 2 mons ago. I wonder if wind could be entering the interior portion of the pillar and cause the belt to flap inside? Going to dealer on Tues. for this and AcuraLink issue.

There is a TSB for wind noise in the B pillar. It came out well over a year ago. I think it is the same issue with both the PAWS and the SH. I had the TSB done shortly after I got my car and it has been silent ever since. In my case it was a ticking sound coming from the B pillar on the driver's side. Keep us posted on how it turns out for you.

Malibu Flyer,
I had that TSB performed at my last visit - replacing the trim pieces on the B-pillar TSB14-047? I will go back and look at that TSB to be sure.

I'm curious to know what the solution for this is. I have the same ticking/rattling sound on my 2014 but on the driver's side - drives me nuts as it's right around my ear height. I too tried moving the seatbelt guide to no avail.

I have the rattling in the passenger B-pillar as well at 50+mph. Mine, however, is loud and can be heard when the radio is on while I'm driving. I have 31k on my odometer and it's been going on since 28k or so. I will be making an appointment for next week.

I'm sure they will find the culprit, they found a horrible squeaking noise in my wife's MDX

At the dealer now for B-pillar noise and AcuraLink not working. Hopefully a solution will be applied today.

Looking forward to your update, miner. Re: Acuralink, I still cannot connect to the car via the Acuralink app. Since I am not home I cannot test Acuralink from the car. However, when I tried to connect via the app yesterday, I did get a message that the Acuralink servers may not be available. Been nearly a month now.

I have noticed that a couple of times that i did not start the car for more then 6-7 days, the app would not connect. At the same time (after not starting it for 6-7 days), I got a message that the car (AcuraLink) has gone into low power mode. This has happened to my MDX and the RLX (SH and P-AWS). As soon as i started the car, the app would connect right away......

That did it pgeorg! I had my neighbor start the car and I was able to connect via AcuraLink app and refreshed the car status data, *happy dance*

*fingers crossed* miner has painless results with both the B pillar and AcuraLink issues.

Just checked my AcuraLink app and was able to finally synch with the RLX. I had it honk the horn and flash lights to mess with the tech. have not heard back from dealer yet.

OK, heard back from dealer. AcuraLink issue caused by low voltage but cannot explain what caused it. Charging system working fine even under stress load. They say rattle was being caused by sunshade in rear door so I assume when TSB was done 2 services ago the sunshade was not attached correctly on the interior of the door. Problem is my AcuraLink app has not synched for 69 days and I have driven it for some time in those 69 days so it should have linked up during my drives. Oh well, it will go back if not fixed right.

I would ask the dealer or AcuraLink to delete your account, and open a new account for you. I had a problem similar to yours when AcuraLink provisioned my account for the first SH (buyback), and connection to car was intermittent. I think its worth a shot.......

B-pillar rattle still present. I heard it 3 miles from the dealership after picking up the car. Obviously their "super-tech" did not drive the car or he would have heard the noise. It even sounds worse than before. Was on my way to the airport or would have taken it back. AcuraLink is back working again, at least.

Interior rattles or buzzes are likely my most frustrating issue. Most are difficult to diagnose and when I hear (take the dash apart) I break into a cold sweat. Out of premium / luxury brands, my experience has been Acura is more prone to buzzes and rattles and one of my greatest pet peeves. I thought I had a rattle coming from my passenger side door or B pillar. It tuned out to be my sunglasses in the overhead console. I was convinced it was the door or B pillar. So I do understand it can be difficult to diagnose. I think most techs diagnose more on frequency of previous fixes to similarly reported issues more than your actual situation.

For the past few days, I have been driving with the driver's side rear window shade up and have not noticed the b-pillar rattle. Time will tell if it is the shade that can be resolved with the TSB or something else.

My rear shades are almost always up during the summer months. Tech seems to think it is coming from the passenger door.

Not buying it but here goes. Technician said he found a pebble in the passenger side door that was causing my noise. No explanation on how pebble got within the door panel. He test drove the car for 35 miles on hwy and no evidence of the rattle was there. I can see how a pebble inside the door could be caused to bounce around at hwy speeds due to inertia, but no idea how it got inside the door. Hope to pick up the car today.

I just picked up the car. The stone/pebble was not in the door panel but in the rocker panel/side skirts under the door. Noise appears to be gone now.

I'm sure that was all very annoying to everybody, both you and them. :-)

Glad they found it.

The service writer mentioned they were sending a notice to Acura about this and how the design of the side skirt allows small objects to find their way into the molded plastic. Great sleuthing by the shop foreman.
