I need to post a picture. I''ll do that in a few minutes. I'm specifically talking about the 5/8' tubing. I did cut the 3/8" tubing for the coolant so it fit better. It ended up fitting great. It's the 5/8" tubing that doesnt fit very well at all.

I went down to the garage to take a picture andd I think I see what I did wrong. It looks like the ridgid piece of tubing is meant to be replaced by the hose included with the kit. I tried to connect the ridgid tubing to the intake and the TB with the hose. If I completely replaced the ridgid tubing with the hose, the both sizes of hose would have been the correct length. I;m going to buy some 3/8" and 5/8" hose tomorrow and replace the ridgid tubing with it. That will make everything fit better.

The instructions were perfect until I reached the final steps. On my 2010 SHAWD, the 5/8" tubing swap was confusing. On my car, the connection of the stock 5/8" tube is a ridgid pipe connecting to a rubble nipple coming out the side of the stock air box "tube". When I installed the Takeda, this ridgid tube did not line up very well with the "nipple" coming out the side of the metal airbox tube. In addition to this, the two tube ends are so close together that it was very difficult to put the 3" or so of 5/8" tubing that came with the kit to fit. The tubing is very short and has to make a pretty sharp angle. It doesnt kink, but it forces things a little out whack. In the picture in the instructions and the pictures in this thread, it looks like this ridgid tube on the car is not even there. Is this ridgid tubing a change with 2010? Or does this ridgid tube get completely replaced by the piece of 5/8" rubber hose that comes with the kit??? The ridgid tube on the car is fused with another tube, so I don't think it can really come out of the car.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about here? The car runs great, so I'm sure I've got things connected correctly. It just looks like this 5/8" tubing is not connected the way the instructions intended because I only used about 3" of the 12-15" long piece that came with the kit.
You need to replace the ridgid(metal) tubes that are connected to the crank case. They are the two metal tubes that are connected together. They both need to be completely removed and replaced with the supplied rubber tubing. If you check the earlier pages of the thread you can see pics and posts on this very subject. Hope that helps.

hello, i'm in the process in upgrading from a 3G TL-S to the 4G '10 TL-SH Tech. I've read nothing but good reviews for the intake...

My question is, should I wait to break in the engine before getting the SRI?

Technically, you don't HAVE to wait. But it would probably be a good idea to put some miles on the car first just to make sure everyting is working perfectly. You don't want to mod a brand new car and then suddenly have a problem and have the dealership break your stones for a mod. I'm going to wait for the first oil change before putting the mods on my '10...

On occasion, my car seems to be staying in 3rd and 4th a little longer than usual after I installed the intake. Its only for a couple secs though. It doesn't happen all the time, just a couple times here and there. Has anyone else noticed this, or is it just me?

037, much love to you but...

couldn't you have turned down the radio while taping the intake sound? Actually, couldn't you have turned down the RICKY MARTIN while taping the intake sound?

well, the video didn't start as an intake video...but I figured I throw it out there as the intake can be heard pretty well.

I don't think you should say "much love to you" and "turn down Ricky Martin" in the same paragraph, that's a bit weird.

don't need the spacer.

Spacer supposed to allow air to cool, it also allows for a chance that by increasing the air pressure it might pop off and that would be nasty.

No proof on a TL of a spacer doing anything on a Dyno.

10 TL would take the same intake as the 09, same car.

While I agree it seems like an "expensive mod" for the hp gain, there is a benefit by getting a spacer. I believe excelerate actually took a 3G to the dyno before and after, and it did show a minor (few HP) improvement. It's not a zero benefit, but there are things that can give you much more HP per $$

I saw no reason not to get a spacer. Installation was easy and coincided with the intake install. Agreed there is no hardcopy proof of gains, so it's really up to you.

Here is that thread I was talking about. At the very least it keeps your HP consistent with a very minor gain on the high end.

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-performance-parts-modifications-112/throttle-body-spacer-pros-cons-740381/

Is it worth $100-$150? That's up to you.

Guys, how often do you need to clean the filter? I had mine since Nov. and haven't cleaned it yet...performance seems the same. (getting the filter off doesn't look to be too easy.....very little room around the filter to get it off).

I heard these can last 50k before cleaning...

I think you can hold off another year if you feel no difference.

Why not examine your cabin air filter every time you need to change it and see the particulate build up on that? This should give you a good sense of what your regular intake filter looks like because you're essentially driving through the same air that contains the same amount of debris for either inlet.

I didn't hit the honker...that would ruin my video on purpose. Someone behind me was a bit less considerate.

Guys, has anyone done any real-world testing to see how much improvement the intake gives you as far as 0-60 and 1/4 mile? I had the intake installed since it first came out and have enjoyed the increased throttle response and improved thrust during passing, but am curious and want to confirm what I'm feeling is backed up with some real numbers.

I did some runs with my GT2 but they were all within the range of my previous testing.

As far as I am concerned, there is not enough power increase if any after the intake and UR pulley install.

We do have a few sets of ROTORA drilled and slotted rotors in stock for the front of the 09+ Acura TL FWD or AWD. Just put in your vehicle info and look under ROTORA.

I don't listen to rumors much but i've heard some people say that Rotora is a cheap brand when it come's to their brakes.
