Tpms

My drivers side TPMS is reading 58 but then reads correct tire presure after I drive for a few. Is this normal? It’s only that wheel.

Nope, not normal. I assume you tested the tire pressure with an accurate tire gauge. Often when the battery starts to go, you will get unusual readings. The batteries in the TPMS last around 7 or 8 years and it appears you could be at the end of your battery life. Has this driver side wheel had problems in the past, not TPMS, but with slow leaks or a nail in the tire? The more one wheel continues to transmit TPMS trouble, the quick the battery will wear out.

okay. Thanks for the response. Can I buy a one from ebay as opposed to dealer? Should I replace all or just that one. I recently got all my tires replaced, but I was present when they were changed and saw no damage done to sensor.

its your TPMS on the way out, mine didn't do that. It decide to throw me a message "check your TPMS" I already know the TPMS sensor but it kinda surprise me since the guy who I swap Aspec wheel from had 185k miles on the clock and being 11 years old.

Yes, you can go to Ebay and get a TPMS sensor much less than it would cost you at an Acura dealer. Keep in mind that when one sensor goes out, the batteries in the other sensors are usually pretty much not far from failing too. You might want to just bite the bullet and replace them all.

The dealer is showing part number 06421-s3v-a04 as tpms for $26.09 the illustration number 1. Is this the right part? If it is at that price is not bad. Why are people saying they cost $40-$70 each?

Labor for this can be expensive. If you are needing new tires, it would make sense to combine these two jobs to save money. The prices for TPMS sensors have dropped for older model cars because there are aftermarket companies making them much cheaper so the OEM had to lower their price.

I ended up buying the TRW’s sensors on ebay to save some money since they will do the same job as oem. I had new tires installed at a local shop about a month ago where I know the owners for a while so they can give me a good price for install. Doesn’t seem difficult from the videos I’ve seen on youtube. I saw one guy do it with the tire on rim, but just deflated to get the sensor in. As far as relearning, I just have to drive a few miles correct? Btw I should’ve done this when I installed new tires. Live n learn.

To my understanding the TPMS sensors are not plug and play but must be coded to the computer. Most all tire shops should have the equipment to do this.

This is what I read:

Acura RL TPMS Reset Procedure

Relearn Code: AC-1

Relearn Procedures: Ensure all tires are inflated to the pressure listed on the tire placard. Drive vehicle at speeds above 15 mph for a minimum of 40 seconds. Sensor ID's will be learned automatically.

Before I start a new thread I wanted to confirm that these are plug and play:

https://m.ebay.com/itm/4-x-Tire-Pres...pid=1953386676

I just got them today and before I get them installed just wanted to make sure.
