KB2 upgrades in a KB1?

Recently(within the last few years, actually) I've been craving a KB1, but I've often found myself looking at KB2s and I really like the updated features, such as the cooled seats, 6spd transmission, etc., I just don't like the exterior as much. Not that it looks bad, I just prefer the looks of the rounded edges of the KB1 better.
This has begged the question...has anyone tried installing any of the updated KB2 upgrades in a KB1?

I've done some searching, but the closest thing I can come up with is KB1-007s post about swapping in the 6spd trans. Otherwise I'm not finding anything.

Anybody have any experience in this arena?

it's gonna be pretty damn hard to swap electronics.
first, you have to make sure all the connections are the same. if not, trouble.
you can get around trouble; but requires time and money.

all in all; not worth it. you either have sexy exterior with outdated electronics
or weird exterior with updated electronics.

you can mod the kb1 with aftermarket electronics to try to get it on par with the kb2, but of course wont nearly be as integrated

If the updated electronics are that important, go with KB2 or just get an entirely newer car.

Except for the climate control & the rear sway bar, there isn't much that folks have swapped from the KB2 to the KB1. At least from what I've seen anyways...

Hi ,

I tried this with my KB1 to use KB2 seats. Even something seemingly simple like this throws error codes.

you could probably get around that with a resistor.

Probably? I think that would work. I have another idea. This is gonna sound crazy on the surface, but did unplug the battery before you did the work? I pulled the dash numerous times on my Camry and the first time I did it without pulling the battery it triggered an SRS code too lol

I'm running under the assumption that the airbag is in fact compatible and the harnesses just plugged in on the KB2 chairs.

I been looking into this after recently purchasing my KB1. I seen some cars in Europe and Japan that are KB1 body, but have the updated parts from the shifter and the cooled seats. I asked someone on an IG page, but never got a responce.

most likely you will have to do some kind of program the computer so it can utilize the pedal shifting like USDM KB2.
