Does anyone know how to remove it? Recently have the back windshield replace and a piece of glass fell into it. Now there a rattle noise over bumpy road and while turning.

I would have to look it up in the manual, shoot me a Pm and I would be happy to send you some jpgs of the instructions. The backseat would probably have to come out to access it.

I believe there is a minimum post requirement before the PM works, did not notice that.
OK, checked out the manual-dealer you go.

Rear 1/4 trim, c-pillar trim, rear seat back, all must be removed to gain access to it so says the manual. Does not mean shortcuts can't be taken but that is what the manual states. Rear screen itself is not that complicated. Motor, links, screen, and some odd bits.
Hope that helps

It is a rattling piece of plastic dread, never stops unless it is up. Ive sat in the back one and the rattle was unbearable.

Has anyone successfully removed the rear sun shade unit? Mine was rattling and I got a little fed-up today. I attempted to form (yes, bend) the arms in an effort to keep the wheel/roller firmly against the window. Guess what, the arm SNAPPED.

It's back in the down position, but now there's a renewed rattling (lol).

The service manual calls for taking a rubber mallet to the C-pillar to break clips that must then be replaced. Considering the side curtain air bags, I stopped at reading the manual.

pushes the pin (E) and grommet against the body (F).

NOTE: The clip must be replaced with a new one when the C-pillar trim is
reinstalled.

Interesting...I've never heard a peep from mine, but the only times I've actually used it was to test it when I bought it, and to show it off to my friends a few times.

I raise mine a lot in the summer when parking in the sun to help keep the heat inside down a bit. FWIW mine does not rattle wither.

Had problem with this rattle. Stuffed some felt along he edge of he screen... not too much, just a-bit so that it could be removed if I wanted to raise the screen.

Just tagging onto this thread.

My rear window power sun shade motor continues to run when raising and lowering the shade. It just goes, click click click continuously. I have to shut off the car to get it to stop. So for now, I can’t use it. Is this a replacement issue and is there a DYI thread on how to? I didn’t find one using search.

I recently replaced my tweeters in the rear shelf, and that's where the shade is at, and to get to it, you need to take out the rear seat bottom and back, remove the upper/rear side panels (where the airbags are at) and then remove the shelf cover. Sounds like a lot, but isn't too bad, though it will take a little while and the right clip tool to remove the multiple clip/plugs that hold it in...if you aren't careful, you could break a couple of clips.

You can buy the instructions from Crutchfield for $10 on how to do it and it includes pictures. See this post: Replacing Rear Tweeters and Speakers

Tools - 10mm socket, a long clip remover, flashlight/light.
I don't have these specific sets, but you need something like this: Panel Clip Removal Set or this Long metal clip removal

These are the steps to get to the rear deck area...how you take out the rear shade motor, I have no idea. Maybe it comes out from the trunk? But I doubt it.

1. Pull 2 release tabs along front edge of rear seat bottom cushion, then lift up cushion and remove
2. Remove 4 10mm screws along bottom edge of rear seat back cushion.
3. Work seat belts through slots in retainers, then lift up cushion to release. Disconnect harness on driver's side that connects to rear seat and frame and remove rear seat back cushion.
4. Along bottom of rear door, pry up scuff plate to release 4 clip/plugs and remove scuff plate
5. Pull door gasket away from body along rear edge. You don't have to remove it totally, just area along the bottom and back panel.
6. Pry out rear side trim strip to release 3 clips and remove strip.
7. Pry out lower edge of rear pillar trim panel, then pull panel down to release 1 clip. Note that the clip is a "Slide Out" not a "Pry Out" clip like all others. This one took me the most time, so I suggest prying the plate to look at the inside and see how it slides.
8. Perform 4-7 on other side.
9. Pry up rear deck panel along front edge to release 5 clips and remove center seat belt trim. You'll need the long clip removal for this step.
10. Pry up rear deck panel to release 4 clips, then pull panel toward front of vehicle. Work seat belts through slots in panel and remove rear deck panel.

You should have access to the whole rear panel. If you were ever thinking of changing out your rear tweeters, now is the time since you have it apart. They are held in by phillips head screws. These steps are also needed to take out the subwoofer, but in addition you also need to access the trunk area to remove parts of that too.
