Engine will randomly cut out while driving, Cannot restart until over time
Just as the title states, I have been having this problem on and off for the past 2 years, only for it to become worse recently.
At least once a month now it will either cut out while im driving (pretty dangerous) or the engine will not turn over while trying to start.
I have found a temporary fix for this where i pull the fuel pump module under the dash and put it back in while starting engine, jiggling the module plug in and out and it seems to turn the engine over to start. Works *sometimes*
Very strange problem, 4 dif car specialists could not figure this problem out. I have bought a new fuel pump module but that is even worse where the car would not start at ALL. (waste of $50). The stock one seems to work better.
THIS IS BOTHERING THE HELL OUT OF ME AND NO ONE ELSE HAS THIS PROBLEM! Please PLEASE if anyone knows what exactly is wrong w my car I have put many hours and money trying to figure this out.

Any CELs?
When the car dies, do you have power to all accessories?

Ignition switch is bad. Pretty common problem on the TL side (99s in particular).
Part #9 is typically the culprit based on your symptoms.

My Acura CL has a problem that the engine just shuts down at stoplight or driving. There is no real pattern yet as it can happen from a stop at 30mph or 70mph. The revs drop to nothing and the dash goes to black. When I place it in park to restart the red Engine lights come upn
We have replaced the ignition which was a suspected as the culprit. But it has not stopped the problem.
Any similar experience and cures for this? It's dangerous when it happens along the highway.

Bought my 2001 CL-S 3.2 L January 2011, started having this same intermittent problem. Recently had to replace the battery, did fine for three weeks, today it didn't want to come out of park into reverse after church, lost power to the tach and gas gauge, temp gauge, CD player, everything, tried to drive on home, cut off at a traffic light, started to get across the highway into a parking lot. Jumped it off, lost power, gauges, engine started sputtering, wouldn't go forward. I believe from what I have read online, main relay, circuit board associated to same, bad connection, ECU-ECM. I jiggled the switch, seems okay.

We've solved the problem for the engine cutting out. I had the ignition switch replaced and that did not correct the problem. So I took the service manager out for a long coffee and we talked it over after his shift. He thought it was the main relay. So we replaced it and the problem is solved. Hope this helps others!
