Exclamation Torque converter replaced

Hello all yesterday took my 2011 TL (CPO) to the dealership. I previously took it to them with a strange sound that I suspected it to be maybe a loose or broken clamp since the sound was like a heat shield loose. The service department couldn't duplicate the sound so I decided to record the sound and take the video to them. They called me back today and told me it was the torque converter. I'm uploading the video for everyone to hear in case you run into a similar problem. At this present time, I won't know if the sound goes away after they replace the torque converter but I'm guessing they wouldn't drop the transmission unless they were sure of what it is. I'll update after getting my TL back in a few days.

P.S. the sound starts at about 16 seconds, total video time is 31 seconds

2011 TL with Tech
current mileage at service is 38k

Picked up my TL today and have to say she drives like new. No more noise or that slight hesitation I would feel at times when accelerating softly. Hope this helps anyone in the future.

Sweet! I'm getting mine replaced next week. Cant wait to feel my ride. The ''jerkyness'' of a faulty TC is getting unbearable.

When you take this video are you coasting, or accelerating softly? I am having some goofiness lately, just an overall "Jerky" or "Springy" feeling, like its catching, and not shifting nearly as smoothly as its supposed to. Is that anything like you were experiencing.

Hi everyone I have this jerk in the transmission when my car shifts from 1 gear to 2nd and it goes away when powertrain gets to its operating temp. If I park the car for 15 minutes and then drive it. It sounds like a broken clamp its really annoying. Please tell me its a torque converter.
can some one tell me what is the warranty extension on 09 models for this recall?

I know this thread is several years old… but finally.. I think I’ve found someone experiencing the same sound and issue as I am!!! 2011 RDX, 113k miles. I bought it a week ago from CarMax. I took it back today, to have them diagnose. They ordered new motor mounts… and believe the noise is the transmission slipping. But, the RPM’s don’t move during the “winding sound”. But, if yours was diagnosed as torque converter, this sounds nearly identical! CarMax was talking about possibly having to tear out and rebuild transmission. I’ll be curious to hear what they say in the next few days, once new motor mounts are installed… what the next step(s) are.. causing they need to solve for the noise AND the vibration. They coincide with each other.

hey Brian how are you brother I just have a question do you ever fix the issue you was having in your car and what they really find as a issue? Was your tranny or mounts bad ? Iam having the same issue with my 2010 Acura MDX I have a jerky transmission from first to second gear shift and something I feels like a clunk sound and it push me forward. Thank you
