Bought new engine mount, rear has no vacuum line?

So about 4-5 months ago, i bought a set of 3 mounts from the biggest mount seller on ebay, front, passenger, rear. I did the front and passenger almost the day i got the mounts but because the back was not too bad, and also much harder than the 2 others, i decided to wait a little.

So tonight i decided to do my rear. I took out the old one only to realize my new one is nearly identical, except on the bottom, it has no vacuum line connector. Is this normal? The rest of the mount looks 100% the same. The front mount I got had the vacuum line.

I don't really know what to do. If it's not normal, it's a little late to open a claim since i waited so long. What do you guys think?

The front AND rear is supposed to have the vacuum line. You must have gotten a wrong one. Doesn't hurt to msg the seller.
The manual transmission TL doesn't have vacuum line on the front but rear still has it.

I plugged up my vacuum assisted mounts.
There's really no need for the vacuum.

supposedly, when you're on the gas, the mounts stiffen up....but that's hardly the case.

plus, aftermarket stiffer mounts like XLR8 dont come with vacuum ports on their mounts....because stiff already.

Paul, our mechanic in NJ says he's had a bunch of his customers coming to him to have those mounts removed in favor of the OEM's or equivalent because their stiffness does such a great job of transferring the engine vibrations to the passenger compartment.

I'm having him do my rear (no pun intended) mount next week.

That's their own fault.

a BIG FAT DUH! comes to mind....

you're changing something soft and luxurious to something stiff and hard.

DUH! there's going to be cabin vibrations.

Don't shoot the messenger now.

I'm not changing anything to stiff and hard, I'm horny enough already, thanks. Giggidy

I contacted the seller, he offered me to ship item back for a refund. But that doesnt solve my biggest problem, my car is on jack stands in my garage with no mount, the old one is broken, the new one has no vacuum line. What are the consequences of installing that one without the vacuum line and possibly capping it?

nothing.

cap off the vacuum at the back of the Intake Manifold, close to the firewall.

if you need to, follow the line from where the mount is supposed to go all the way up to the Intake Manifold.

as stated, the aftermarket stiffer mounts from XLR8 DONT USE THE VACUUM lines...
so, every one just caps it off.

And also from what I understood, the rear mount has much less impact on driving comfort than the 2 others because it's mostly used to absorb shock when shifting in R and back to D, am I right?

when you're ON the gas, the vacuum creates suction to activate the mount to get stiffer.

this would mean that NOT hooking it up will have no effect on comfort, as it's always in a state of non-vacuum.

if your rear mount was torn and beat up, this would mean your other 2 mounts were blown, as the rear is the last to go.

when I changed out mine, my rear was still in great condition.

This is incorrect. I just replaced my manual transmission front mount and the vacuum hose was there, plugged into the factory OEM mount. I haven't touched the rear mount yet...

I agree. The front should have vac line. The rear, from the research I did could go without one, since the biggest stress of rear mount is when shifting or driving in R. I can confirm that i've driven about 500K without a rear vac line and so far so good. The car runs smoother since i replaced rear mount, especially when taking the car in the morning and shifting in reverse, before i'd feel a hit and now it's almost not noticeable. Next maintenance is replacing the 3rd and 4th shift sensors. I had my tranny done last year but i dont think they replaced the switches and the car always gives me a slight bump when driving a low speeds and shifting from 2 to 3 and 3 to 4. I was told the switches look used and not like if they were 1 year old.
