Turbo

Heard that a turbo wont fit tl 05 but I can't find any that actually fits with out having to do some changes, so I'm thinking lowering the battery. --- what else? Can I find turbo online?

Need to do a lot more than just lower the battery. If you're going forced induction, go with the supercharger made for the TL, unless fabrication is your thing.

If you have money you can get one to fit. If you can fab up the piping you can make one fit. Besides that it's not going to be easy.

Lol...love it.

Much more to be concerned about other than relocating the battery!

Here's a picture of my engine bay and as you can see, there's just enough room for the engine and a turbo

For parts and labor alone ran me around $5500 and that included all hot/cold size tubing, turbo, intercooler, BOV and wastegates. That, of course, didn't cover all the other expenses such as the required fuel system upgrades (LOTS of $$$ here), exhaust, Hondata, thermal insulation, then the time involved for tuning. I'd say there was much more time and labor over parts by far. But this is obviously because I chose to do most of the work myself.

If "this" is all inclusive, drive-in, drive out with turbo kit and ready to go (not including a built motor, I'd wager probably 10 - 12K minimum, maybe even a little more.

Battery relocating is the hardest part. Fact.

It starts out in the $5K range.....until something breaks. And so far, we've all broken something. Then it doubles/triples in cost.

So if you are thinking in the 4k range, then I would not buy a turbo.

Im $12k deep and im still not done. Im estimating another $3k to finish my setup. However ive upgraded nearly every single thing you can think of, other than internals. I did go above and beyond the minimum requirements to get the car boosted. Its taken me a year and a half to get to the point where im at now between finding time and saving the side money for this project.

You dont realize all the small things you need to make this work until you are already too far along and invested.

My car laughed at $5500 (for the turbo setup) and told me to bend over.

And I haven't recovered yet...

If I really had to do it all over, I would in a heart beat. Why? Because I just LOVE days like today when I took down an E36 M3 that had some noticeable work done to it. I was feeling really good about myself and my car until we rolled up to the next red light. That's when SHE rolled down her window as to tell me "you ain't nothing, I'm just a chick!". Lmao! Mind you I'm currently not running the turbo setup. I'm all natural ATM.
