Anybody down for a detail day?

I doubt it but was going to see if anybody is down for a detail day.

I have some mirror glaze that I need hurry up and use. If you don't know what that is, it's a meguiars brand wax that strips a small coat of the clear coat off of your car. It eliminates some scratches, paint defects, and spider web scratches on your car.

So basically, I'm going to clay bar, wax, mirror glaze, re-wax. So if anybody is interested, hit me up!

Also, I wanted to wetsand my headlights, so if anybody has expertize in this, I would like to hear it, or maybe get some help!

Haha, well if you can find time let me know. I'm free anytime.

I was going to run to Napa and see if I can rent a dual action buffer, but I doubt they'll loan those out.

It will do wonders on your front end though. I went to a meguiars training class down in Socal, and slapped it on my hood, and it was basically flawless after we finished.

Lets get this going then Ken. I don't want to wetsand alone, mainly because I have no clue to what I'm doing.

Wanna Drive to Scappoose? I used to own my own mobile detail business, I have pads, HS buffer, wax, and clay for days just sitting around doing nothing.

Sweet, lets plan a detail day then one of these weekends at my place. My CL needs it really bad since getting out of the paint shop. You can really see all the swirls everywhere other than the spots that were painted.

isn't Makita a rotary? Like...NOT a random orbital polisher? If so...in conjunction with limited knowledge, i would highly recommend you do not attempt this. Read up on the wash and wax section...lots of information. Also...the wax mirror glaze wax process sounds like it may be redundant and missing some steps. For your own good I would recommend you get more infor before making bad worse!

I have always done a 3 step process when doing a hard core detail. FOr me its so much more about the pads you use than the products. Heavy cut first, then a mid polish, the a white super soft. Once you get to the white it really starts to show the hard work you have put in, swirls gone, scratches gone, and in the instance of my car, the blue pearl really starts to shine through.

I've been using rotary buffers for years now I think I understand how to use it. Thanks for caring though

I took a detailing class at Meguairs and learned how to use the mirror glaze and the other detailing products. I also tested it out on my hood and fenders and it's been beautiful. I believe I used a dual action rotary buffer also.

Schot, I'm pretty much free whenever so just let me know and I'll be there.

+1 As long as you know HOW to use and what NOT to do you will be just fine.

I recommend a porter cable over an orbital buffer that is found at autozone, harbor freight, etc...

Learn with PC, then if you think you will be into it, invest in a rotary.

Ok...def. no offense to anyone but for some reason the way I read it sounded like people that were amateurs attempting to use a rotary etc...I haven't ever even used machine yet, was just passing along what I've been reading.

now it sounds like you all probably know a lot more than me!

^^^that sounds friggin hilarious.

Even though I know what you meant. Anybody see the movie "Ten"...it was a moden take on the ten commandments and the guy had "man time" where him and his buddies would hang out naked at home. It was bizarre but hilarious.

Anyway, glad no offense taken...

maybe somebody down in south florida would like to deswirl MY NBP?!!? lol...
I did another coat of Z-2 last night...Zaino is the bomb...although labor intensive to put on and pretty pricey...but it does look great for a hand applied method. It also hides the swirls pretty well unless looking at direct sunlight/publix parking lights...

I'm trying not to be that anal because I'm SURE I could end up engulfed in this new detailing hobby.

detailing is hard work, but if you do it right you can go for a long while without needing to do it again. I can spend an entire day sealing and waxing etc... and I won't need to do it again for at least 6 months. Car stays cleaner and looks better too!

It is addicting though, I waxed every 3 months on my first car now it's every 6 months on my 3rd car (the tsx) lol
