Hello from MA
I am delighted to join this forum. I picked my 2008 Acura TL Type S a week ago and so far I am loving it. With 75K miles, it was priced to sell because the HFL doesn't work and both front and rear passenger wheels are badly scratched. I have found it will cost me $400 to repair the wheels and $250 for the HFL module. Still not a bad deal. I plan to fix those two issues and tint it before I think of other mods.

Welcome! Great looking 3G.
The HFL is notorious for failing on the 3G TL. I'm not sure if they eventually corrected the design or not. There are members who have replaced it 2 or 3 times just to have it fail again. The HFL on my 3G lasted about 6 months before dying. I never bothered replacing it. I'd consider an aftermarket Bluetooth setup before dropping $250 on a new OEM HFL.
The TL-S wheels are nice (commonly called "waffles" here ). It might be worth fixing them. Or you could drop some additional cash into a new set of wheels if you wanted something more custom.
Either way, enjoy the car

Thank you for the welcome. Yea, the color is cool! Don't you hate it when people refer to it as 'Gray'??
I have a questions for you. How do I setup a signature with my car's details so that they appear on every post? I have looked and looked...

Welcome, is it an auto or manual? Also When I bought my type s the driver seat was badly torn. A local shop replaced the leather on the bottom cushion for $200 and it looks great to me. They sell aftermarket covers but Im not a fan of the pattern. Good luck and enjoy your car

Thank you. It is automatic. That's okay. I haven't driven manual in over 10 years and I wanted something my family can use (no one has ever driven a manual) use incase they needed to rush me to the hospital or something. My seats are not too bad. The only two things I need to worry about is the HFL (not working but also hanging loose because of broken casing screws) and I think something is amiss with the sub. It rattles even a low volumes. I will search in the forums for suggestions.

Welcome from a fellow Masshole. If the HFL and curb damage are the only problems, it sounds like a good car with low miles for the year. Given the mileage, I suspect the timing belt and water pump hasn't been changed though. Just something to look into if you didn't already.

Thank you theCoffeeFiend. Yes, that's what I figured. I am hoping I that's that is not working. OK, right, I need to save up for the 120K major service. Thanks for the reminder. Since you are a New Englander, tell me something about tires. Do you drive your TL year around? If you do, do you have winter tires or do you use All-Season? Would you recommend winter tires, or will the all season do just fine?
Thanks again

Depends on your budget and how many miles you drive a year. There is definitely a difference between all season and winter tires when it comes to driving in the snow. If you can spare the money and dont mind the extra road noise, I'd get a pair
