Hey guys,
I just bought it. Got a good deal. Don't know a ton about the CL or TL's in general. I do know that I like speed. It's an automatic. I definitely prefer a manual, but NOBODY drives manual's anymore. Doesn't matter what car you're looking for, they're getting harder and harder to find.
I'm keeping this first post very short because I still need to learn the rules here. However, I'd simply like to say that, for the most part, C.A.R.B. regulations are a bunch of BS.

I'm feeling welcome, thank you. I forgot to add that mine is a type S. I was unable to edit the thread.
I do plan on soaking up some knowledge here (In particular, the CL sub-forums) because I clearly have a lot to learn. But I like to learn. I'm excited.

Always loved the 2G CL-S. My neighbors had one for years they owned since new, and I almost bought it when they finally listed it for sale. But the auto transmission issues the car faces kept me away (my sister owned a 2001 Accord auto that was plagued by similar issues). And the 6-speed ones have gotten so hard to find, and if you can they are no longer cheap.
Best of luck, its definitely a great looking car!

Thanks, guys.
Yeah, man. As I was checking out the CL section of the forum, my asshole began to pucker. Sticky threads and so many of the other member-posted threads concern the automatic transmission. With a 2001 with 150K miles, I'm well past the Acura warrantee. It drives perfectly fine at this point, but I was thinking that some preventative maintenance would be prudent.
I'm not sure if I have 1 or 2 filters. I ordered two automatic transmission filters because that's what Rockauto had listed for this model. One that sits in the oil pan (Although I then noticed that ours has a drain plug and so you wouldn't apparently remove the pan to drain fluid?) Or maybe I can still remove the pan to get to that filter to replace it, and the drain plug just serves to make things a lot less messy when draining. The other filter is cylindrical with female threads on one side and a tight (press -in) male fitting on the other. So I don't know which or if both apply to this car.
And I will be purchasing some DW-1. I'm still not sure if I have an AT cooler.
I also need to visit an Acura service center to see what recalls, and hopefully they have regular service records as well. I'm mostly interested in valve adjustments, spark plugs and timing belt. Although, I think that I'm going to replace the plugs and belts no matter what. I've never done a Honda type valve adjustment before, but it doesn't appear to be TOO difficult. But, we'll see.

Welcome! The CL is a very underrated car, but those automatic transmissions can be problematic. Check out the CL section of the forum for more information!
