Nascar sucks my super uber wevos

I think Nascar is the most retarded thing ever. I mean these guys are driving in a damn oval. What the hell is that. The real racers are in F1, Le Mans, and Touring Cars. Nascar is only useful for blowing up useless machinery every damn race. Stupid idiots always crashing their piece of crap cars.

discuss ^^

i am no big nascar fan, and i couldnt even name 5 drivers, however, you gotta give them more credit. you couldnt get through 5 laps in a real nextel cup nascar race, its not as easy as it looks.

Thats good
I think WRC is the most demanding/challenging race series (besides the paris/dakar rally). I mean the run on all kinds of ground, at night, right at the edge of cliffs, and have no guardrails (they have to be extra careful not to kill fans who are two feet off the road), not to mention they take some serious constant physical abuse from jumps and such.
F1 is not bad either, but there is too much technology there. Short of the driver steering, almost everything could be done remotely from a computer.

nascar racing really seems redundant to me, but it entertains lotsa people and is a massive industry of its own apparently.

I drove a Nascar before, and let me tell you, it takes enough concentration to make sure youre taking the turns properly at 150-160mph.. not too much concentration, but i couldnt imagine driving that speed with that much force in the car and then having someone 2 inches off your bumper on every side of your car..

i think the whole point of nascar isnt the race.. its how long do you last before you cause the inevitable crash

nascar used to be something fun that the old moonshiners would do for fun, not for endorsements or the money, fun and family.

i think nascar will hit its peak real soon, there are only so many races that can be moved to accomodate corp execs.
once you start doing that you start taking tradition away, and once you start taking tradition away you lose some of the die hard fans.

most def a big money maker. i have been a fan before the jeff gordon days.
my uncle used to race nascar modifieds a number of years ago. had his own race team, just got a bit old to be racing.
i get bored of racing also but am a big fan

True. Near me, it's all white trash who have Nascar stickers plastered to the bumper of their rusty pickup truck.

F1 on the other hand, is tolerable.

LOL! Funny! They call me a Puerto Rican redneck! I'm like Bigfoot -- there are rumors about us, but you never see us! These hate statements are obvious opinions though, NOT facts! I mean c'mon, like someone pointed out, 160K + people at one race can't be wrong! All white trash?... That'd be an ignorant statement in itself!
I love speed, and got into Nascar back in 1990 when I moved to FL from NY, loved it since!
To each his own! It's the fastest growing sport around right now! Ratings even beat out the Lakers/Spurs playoffs!
Soooooo.... Keep blabbin!

Well I used to not get it either. But after spending months as a cameraman on a TV show about lower circuits of stock car racing (ASA and Hooters) where most of the NASCAR drivers you see usually originate from.

There is a lot to this sport. most importantly money. Which leads to equpiment, setting up the car. control, focus, concentration. Dedication.

Its also a giant endurance test. Now, im still not a huge nascar fan, but these guys who dont have teh money who are struggling to make it... these guys are awesome and I have much respect for what they do and what it takes.

Watch the show The Drive on CMT (shameless plug ) you might change your mind, you might not.

Let's elaborate on this because I beleive quite a few of the statements made against NASCAR are done so out of ignorance of this form of motorsports.

What exactly is the problem?? Is it the cars, the drivers, the competition (which is greater than most other forms of motorsports), the fans, etc.??

That is understandable and I am right there with you. But in no way would I discredit the drivers. It is difficult to do what they do, 200 MPH with cars within feet of you while turning (mildly).

To me it is much of the fan base which annoys me. The Motorsports, although not my cut of tea, is fine. And it isn't the rednecks, which I can deal with. It is the fans who know nothing about the cars or what goes into the motor sports; they just like a driver for an unknown reason and are nearly religious about it.

This “argument” is just like the final Friends episode conversation the other day.
Everyone jumps on the bandwagon and says “its gay”, “never watched”, “you’re a girl” and such because it’s the thing to do.
Odds are many of those people have enjoyed the show many times, but are afraid to admit it.

I’m not a HUGE fan of NASCAR with a big #3 tattooed on my forehead, but I admit that like to watch the occasional race on a Sunday afternoon.
And every other year or so we make a trek with several friends out to one of the more popular tracks.
Over the years we’ve been to Dover, Richmond, Indianapolis, Bristol, Martinsville & others and next February we’re making our way down to Daytona for the entire week.

If you don't like it...FINE, but why the HATING ???

Good points...I too see it the same as you Scal in regards to the fan base. And down here in the Deep South I truley believe NASCAR is a religion.

I'm with Shawn. I am not a big fan. I do watch it sometimes. I went to Vegas years back with some bigshots from work with alot of $$. They were able to race real NASCARS at a track near Vegas. Mind you they were the old style ones like from Days Of Thunder, & were a tad de-tuned. I was luky enough to get to drive. After a 2 hour class on how to drive followed by 3 laps as a passanger, then 3 driving with the instructor, then you were on your own for 5 laps. After driving a car at 170+MPH for an extended period of time around sharp ass curved banks, feeling the G's on you, with the fear of slamming into a wall at that speed, you will have a huge respect for what these guys do. I know I do!
