Hungarian GP 2007
Since no one has put anything up yet,...........
Alonso HAD pole,......but,........(the entire decision letter avail at the link - ie the full story).
http://www.speedtv.com/articles/auto/formulaone/39223/
World Champion Fernando Alonso has lost his pole position for the Hungarian Grand Prix and will start tomorrow's race in sixth place.
The race stewards at the Hungaroring have decided to demote the McLaren driver after reviewing evidence from today's qualifying session, where the Spaniard held up teammate Lewis Hamilton in the pits, causing the Briton to miss out on a final flying lap and possible pole.
Alonso was adamant that he remained stationary for 10 seconds because his engineers had told him to, while team boss Ron Dennis told reporters after the session that the incident was a result of Hamilton himself ignoring team orders earlier on in the session, therefore leaving the two drivers out of sequence.
The three stewards talked to representatives of the team and reviewed recordings of the car radio transmissions before making their decision, over eight hours after qualifying ended. At this point, the FIA stewards made it clear that they did not believe the story they were told by Alonso and the McLaren team, and decided that the Spaniard had deliberately sabotaged his teammate’s final qualifying effort.
The end of the decision says (besides Alonso starting 6th): The penalty to be applied is that such points (if any) in the 2007 Formula One Constructors Championship as accrue to the team as a result of their participation in the 2007 Hungarian Grand Prix will be withdrawn.

yeah I was watching the qualifying yesterday and I was shocked when that happened. I guess there is no written rule about it, but I mean its your teammate. It was so funny watching the press conference right thereafter with Hamilton saying that you could clearly see what was going on, while Alonso was sitting right next to him.
The race wasn't too exciting, Hamilton never giving up the lead...although Raikonen was right on his tail for most of the race.

How comes everything seems to go wrong with McLaren all of a sudden ? First spy row, then team order manipulation now.

So, Alonso is ruthless in quali3, gets penalized 5 spots and the team is not awarded any Constructor's points. How is the team complicit in all of this? They should have given the team the points and docked Alonso imo. And Massa, WTF were you doing during the race? He gained 1 spot?? That sucks large.

Man, a new low for Honda, a complete dissaster. I wonder if the engineers are even trying to fix the car anymore, or have they moved on to next year's design?

Let's see: Prost takes Senna out; Senna takes Prost out (both Japanese GP); MS takes out Hill; MS tries to take out JV; MS tries to take out Senna; the Mansell/Piquet battles; and on and on. It was only a matter of time before Alonso started acting this way, not that it's right, but it is in conformity w/ past champions' behavior.

New Allegation on 2007 Hungary GP
The acrimonious relationship between the two during their year together at McLaren in 2007 is well documented. The duo not only fought on the track but also off it.
Following qualifying for the Hungarian GP, Alonso was stripped of his pole position for blocking Hamilton in the pits during qualifying, preventing the then-rookie from challenging for pole position.
Added that, there was the Stepneygate spy scandal where McLaren received secret technical information about Ferrari's 2007 challenger.
The scandal reportedly came to light when Alonso threatened to report team boss Ron Dennis to the FIA if he was not handed number one driver status.
But it now appears that those were not the only controversies during the Spaniard's time at McLaren.
According to The Star, Tom Bowers' recently published biography "No Angel: The Secret Life of Bernie Ecclestone", claims that Alonso asked Dennis to sabotage Hamilton.
The book alleges that, hours before the start of that tension-fraught 2007 Hungarian GP, Alonso approached Dennis, telling him to short-fuel Hamilton's McLaren so that the Brit would run out of fuel and fail to finish the grand prix.
And although Hamilton and Alonso have insisted in recent months that they have buried the hatchet, these claims may spark yet another war between the two World Champions.

Alonso responds...by not responding.
.
A recently published biography about Bernie Ecclestone has brought Alonso's acrimonious year at the Woking-based team back into the spotlight.
According to The Star, Tom Bowers' book "No Angel: The Secret Life Of Bernie Ecclestone" reveals that the Spaniard asked former team boss Ron Dennis to short-fuel Hamilton's car for the 2007 Hungarian Grand Prix so that the Brit would run out of fuel and fail to finish the race.
When Spain's AS newspaper asked him for his thoughts on the allegations, Alonso replied: "I do not know, each person tries to do their job. In principle the Ferrari, McLaren and Red Bull drivers are the favourites."
