Hangin' with a NASCAR driver . . .
. . . named Jacques Villeneuve!
Kinda cool, he was pretty nice. He was totally soaked too because he just finished a 80 lap race in a stockcar at the Glen.

I remember seeing Villeneuve in the paddock on the CART circuit back 15 years ago. Talk about a guy with a big ego. I guess a few dishes of humble pie worked wonders.

He was great to talk to in 1995 at the Long Beach Grand Prix. I talked to him at least 10 solid minutes. Then he went to F1 and he became the BIGGEST toolbox on the planet. He was pretty cool at the Glen.
dallison: IMSA GTP's were my favorite cars to watch. 962's, XJR-14's, Nissans, Toyotas-whatta blast.

Yeah, I loved the GTPs. CART and IMSA were my favorite series in the 90s. I preferred them over F1.
What in the world happened?
CART became this lame IRL spec series.
GTP became that lame WSC

If you recall, IMSA GTP died to make way for IMSA WSC to cut costs. WSC consisted of open top prototypes that were slow and ugly, the only exception being the Ferrari 333SP. Eventually, IMSA was sold and renamed PSR. PSR WSC continued a slow painful death until Don Panoz bought it and renamed it back to IMSA. Panoz scrapped the WSC category and tied the series to Le Mans and introduced ALMS.
So yes, IMSA GTP did eventually become ALMS, but there was that painful WSC era in between. Unfotunately, unless things turn around, ALMS might not survive much longer.

Big Block go VROOOM!
Ahhh...see I was doubly confused. When I see WSC, my mind instantly registers those three letters with the FIA World Sportscar Championship from the 80's and 90's. I thought you just had a misfire and were referring to the Grand Am Daytona Prototypes. I totally forgot about that WSC era in North American sports car racing.
Speaking of sports car racing past, check out what I'm expecting a copy of by the end of this month or early September. My jaw literally fell open and I started making Homer donut noises when I was made aware of this. The buzz is that prints of individual images may also become available sometime in the next few months.

Cool looking book Billiam. Absolutely loved the Can-Am series when I was a kid. Even had an HO Scale slotcar set with all Can Am cars.
