Dodge to pull out of NASCAR at year's end
http://news.yahoo.com/dodge-pull-nas...--finance.html
Dodge is withdrawing from NASCAR competition at the end of the 2012 season.
The decision announced Tuesday impacts Dodge's involvement in both the Sprint Cup Series and the Nationwide Series. Penske Racing currently fields two Dodge Chargers in Sprint Cup and two Dodge Challengers in Nationwide.
Penske announced in February that it would move to Ford next year, and SRT President and CEO Ralph Gilles said that had an impact on the decision.
Gilles said the company has been evaluating all its options for five months. He said "in the end, we simply couldn't develop the right structure" to race at a level and quality expected.
Gilles did not rule out a return to NASCAR in the future.

Not the first time either. They pulled out in 1977 for nearly 2 decades I believe.

I'm not a big NASCAR fan, but any time a manufacturer pulls out of a series, I think it's just bad for motorsports on the whole. Racing is super expensive as it is and when a major manufacturer can't justify the expenditure, it sends a bad sign to the market for racing in general, IMO. Very unfortunate to see them pull out again.

They couldn't anyone to run their engines. Which is sad.
But they still have the new Dart in the rallycross series...where if I remember reading correctly Pastrana won the race in it's debut.
And they still have the ALMS (or whatever it is) where they just ran 2 vipers, that they are starting to dial in for that series.
So, there is still a presence in racing.
