And if you have problems, let me know...I pass their office everyday on the way to work...

They're on the waterfront in downtown Wilmington.

i did everything over the net for mine - why are you so worried about using the 'net for it? I'm pretty happy with my 2.0% savings account. One of the best savings rates I could find...

BUMP

I'm considering opening the 2.0% savings account. Almost twice the interest I'm getting now. Is this a good company to do business with? Any downsides?

Thanks, J.T.

Mikey....I put some money in ING a few months ago. I tried to transfer a few bucks from ING back into my regular checking account and it wouldn't let me. It said to call some number first. So I called this number, and they said they needed to 'verify my id', so they started asking questions. First it was normal stuff for 5 minutes, then they started asking which bank I got my first car loan from, who my electric company was 5 years ago, what cell phone service I had...all sorts of crazy shit. This went ont for a solid ten minutes. Each time I answered a question they put me on hold and said they had to go check my answer. After a little bit I told them I wasn't answering any more questions and they said they wouldn't let me transfer my money. I hung up on them....called back later talked to a manager and closed my account.

I know tons of people use ING with no problems...don't know why they were messing with me. Just thought I'd throw in my story.

I've had cash in INGDirect for years now without any problems.

I get about $1800/year in interest from them. Not bad for money that just sits there (not invested)

^^ it was a small amount of money, but it was my first time transferring any money out.

I talked to a few people about it and they said ING is just like that, overly cautious. I guess thats a good thing, but they pissed me off. I think it was because the woman grilling me was a bitch.

I'm sure you would be able to get your money, but you might have to answer a half hours worth of questions first.

Maybe I set off some kind of red flags in their system or something. Maybe they thought I was a terrorist.

edit: damn. wonder why they wouldn't let me do it.
