Well I never heard of them and their site says Beta. What service are you in need of? Credit Score?

I wanted to track my Credit Score. I get the credit reports every 4-5 months for free from the 3 agencies, but can't get the score.

Never used them before, but vaguely remember hearing the name before.

Just did some searching and it sounds fairly legit, but it is still not a FICO score. It will give you a credit score that could be drasticly different than your FICO, but should at least give you a reasonable ballpark.

That said, I have no intention of using them. For the times that I feel I really need my credit score, I'll pay for my FICO score. If you just want to see your credit report, then do the only "truly" legitimate site is https://www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp. You are allowed one free copy of your credit report from each credit agency per year. Not sure if it's calendar year or every 12 months. Might be a good time to get a free report.

That is what most people try to avoid.

I just goto myfico.com once a year. $15 for each of the three is a ripoff though. What I normally do is get a free report from each. If they all look good (ie.no negatives) I just run the score from one of them.

^^ FYI - you can only get two FICO scores now. One of the agencies no longer allows access through myFICO. You can still get your credit report through any other means, just not through myFICO.com.

Also, there is a coupon code for myFICO.com which saves a bit. Need to search a bit, but it has "Savings" in it.

Coupon code: SURVEY30 saves 30% and is supposed to be good until Dec 31. That gets you Experian and TransUnion for $22.32. Equifax is not available.

I've been using them since June of 2008. It's nice if you keep up on it, because they keep a history of your score. Granted, it's not a FICO score, but it's still good to know.

Also use Quizzle.com from the Quicken people.

it's legit. they offer their services for free because they advertise credit card offers on the site that coincide w/ ur credit score.

if this code doesn't work anymore on myfico.com, try CPPSAVINGS. I've used that numerous times in the past and it saves 20%.

I can get Credit monitoring services Plus credit score through Credit card offers for $11.99/month, but I feel $150/year for a monitoring service is too much, iespecially with technology and online services available today. Apart from monitoring the report at 1 of the 3 bureaus every 4-5 months, placing a credit alert with all the bureaus would provide me enough peace of mind from Credit Fraud. I pay for the score once a year, but this year we will be paying off several loans and credit cards whose promotion offers are coming to an end. So I just wanted to get an idea as to how they impact the score.

Thanks Anachostic. Good to know atleast someone has used them over a period of time. Have had an oppurtunity to check once in a while how much difference exist between you FICO & CreditKarma scores.
