Exclamation Credit card fraud

Got a phone call today from someone saying they wanted to check on some transactions on my visa, but before they told me about the transactions they needed some information from me. When I said no, they offered to provide their phone number and that I could check with my bank that they are official. I hang up on the guy.

I'm a bit concerned, though. Before doing so, he mentioned the name of my bank and my address (asked me to confirm the house #; which I refused).

Should I just ignore the whole thing? I checked my visa statement online and it's all good.

I checked on the caller id on my phone, and it said "outside caller"; which tells me he wasn't so official, yet he knew my address... yikes! What to do?

Just ignore those guys. Don't give out or confirm any information ever. Only give out confirmation information when YOU call THEM for something and they ask.

Call the number on your cc bill and ask them if they have anything going on that concerns you.

My friend just got scammed like this.

Someone called him from the "credit card" company to verify some info. The call was from a legit credit card company they just dont know who it was.. if it was an employee or someone acting as one...

Luckily hes like me, just out of college not much in da bank account.

NEVER GIVE YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER!!!

They are phishing for the person who has "no clue"

Why would the credit card company ever need to verify info? Do you think they would lend you a cent if they didnt know who you were?

If you want to further protect yourself, you can also call one of the three credit bureau's and add a fraud alert to your credit file. The fraud alter will notify any vendor running your credit that there is an alert on file and to request additional identification. If you want to do this here is the numbers for the credit bureaus. All you need to do is call one and they will report it to the other two.
