Is it bad to have 4 credit cards? Does it hurt to apply to a few in the same day? And also does anyone know any cards that have, 0% apr balance transfer for the first 12 months?

And is it bad to do balance transfers?

It's not bad to have 4.

Word of advice, you are 19. If you have balance problems now, fix it. Then don't do it again. I was there when I was 27 and it sucked.

Well not really "problems" I have about a 1900 balance on my 0% apr boa card. The 0% apr is almost up and I still havent recieved a 3,800 check I am waiting for...Should be here in a month or two. So I was thinking of puting the balance on a 0% apr balance transfer til I can pay it all.

If you're not planning on applying for any other loans/credit cards in the near future, you should be okay. If you're buying a new car or house soon, it it will reflect negatively on your credit. It's good to have more than one credit card, but it's also not good to have "too much" credit. The "inqueries" they make when checking your credit will sit on your record for 2 years. Most credit agencies consider one inquery every 12 months as average. Anything more than that and it will ding your credit score.

Not really.

Typically each inquiry will ding your score for about 5 points. But establishing a new well-maintained credit account can get you a lot more than that back.

Also, all inquiries received within 14 days of each other are considered a single inquiry (to account for the fact that some people do "shop around" for loans). All additional inquiries within 30 days of receiving a car loan or mortgage are also ignored.

And "soft" inquiries, like requesting your own credit report or having your credit looked at as part of a background check, are always ignored.

Generally, unless you're going crazy with credit applications, the inquiries are not going to be a big deal. They're one of the least important pieces of the system.

More than 7 revolving credit accounts is going to be a red flag.

And cancelling existing accounts is also not a good idea.

So it's generally a good idea to add the accounts carefully and judiciously, because once you have those 7 active accounts, getting one more is going to be really tough, and that seventh one is always the one you REALLY need.

Why is cancelling existing accounts not a good idea? What is you have too many cards or do not use a certain CC?

Yeah but if you're 19 like him, he probably doesn't have a well-established credit history so 5 points for each card could be significant enough to drop him a tier.
