hi guys,

I am moving to Columbus, OH for a 3 year medical residency and am taking the TL i will be purchasing soon there. I am currently in chicago and 35% tint all around is legal. I have a 35 percent currently on my cars and i love it.

If i am correct the tint law in OH is 50 front and anything in back, i was thinking of doing 35 percent all around... Would i be able to get away with that or is the enforcement of tint pretty stringent in OH.

i think it all depends on the overall look of the car. i lived in columbus for 7 years and first i had a red mustang with black interior, chrome rims and 20% all around and got a ticket. but then i had my ASM 08 type s with taupe interior and 35% all around and was fine. my mustang just asked cops to pull me over. also know that if you get pulled over for something else they might try to throw the tint ticket on top of it

 

i always opened up the moon roof shade if i was by cops to make it lighter in the car

 

i agree. the overall look of your car and type of car sometimes really determine if or when you get pull over. for example, my RL has 15% (WI legal limit is 50%) tints all around but have no fancy rims, exhaust, chromes, spoilers, or body kit...just plain and simple and have never been pulled over for tint. on the other hand, my friends' Accord, TL, Prelude and Civics have been pulled over numerous times for tint. Reason....? They all have something that attracts cops.

 

ive lived in columbus all my life, just recently got a 05 nbp tl with 30% tint and havent been pulled over yet. and i live in gahanna, usually they are really tough on stupid shit, but ive been right up beside one and they were cool with it. i wouldnt worry about it

 

ive had 10% all around for over a year with no complications, then the darkness got kinda annoying so now i'm wrapped in 17% all around, ive gotten pulled over for my soo called "dark tints" one time, but the cop just sited me for my seatbelt. & he totally forgot tints were the 1st initial reason why he stopped me. ive had the 17% for about 3years now btw & im in pickerington , canal win, eastside columbus a lot. & drove by plenty times & my car isnt the most stocked tl out there. i suppose you just have to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.

 

Silvertl88 i do the exact same thing with the sun roof! & so far its worked every single damn time! lol . or ill roll my windows down on the opposite side of where i see the cops. also successful.

 

i agree with the above statement about the overall look of the car...i lived in ohio with 35% on my car and got a warning for the tint...like noted if you have a sunroof leave the visor open around cops or roll your front windows down some until there gone

 

I have 15% on the front and 5% rear of my 1st gen CL. It's got black paint, and for awhile had 10000k HID's. It was just screaming "PULL ME OVER!!!!" and I never got pulled over. Currently rocking 6000k HIDs in TSX projectors which are brighter than the 10000k's and again, never been pulled for tint.

 

depends on where you are registering it, in columbus or in chicago?
