I am getting my first aftermarket rims and need help finding a shop that would mount and balance with damaging my rims.
Most tire rack installers are sketchy at best. I've had bad experience with Mr Tire.
Anyplace that would guarantee that they woudl replace yoru rims if they damage it?
Thanks in advance.

can't say there is a good big box shop necessarily unless you know the tech is competent enough on the machine to do it for you.
i had bad experiences at the big box places (ie damaged rims, poor balancing and alignments). pretty much they didn't really care despite the fact the car is squeaky clean and appears well kept. i won't go back. i would personally take them to a performnace tuner shop capable of working with aftermarket rims and low profile tires.
you can risk it at the big box shops, but be prepared to fight tooth and nail for them to own up to a new set of rims or wheels if damaged. i did this after they damaged my wheels...it was a lengthy ordeal, but got new wheels out of it (an upgrade in fact since my original rims were discontinued).
take them to a tuner shop that can do this (the price will be similar), even if its a little inconvenient. i'll pay a little extra for peace of mind and knowing the guys actually take pride in their jobs. your choice. if they are my stockies...hell let the dealer mess with them, aftermarket, my dealer wouldn't touch my wheels for risk of damage.

If you don't mind traveling, Mach V in Sterling has a great machine and they can handle large wheels. They are a performance shop so they know what they are doing. Ask for Dan if you go there.

Raising this thread from the dead since I'm doing some research on this.
Mach V in Sterling as mentioned above seems to have a good rep, as does P Tuning in Manassas and Radial Tire in Silver Spring.

Bumping this also. Got some new wheels I need tires mounted on, I usually go to a local place by me but they can be rough at times need a little more TLC this time ha ha. I used to go to a spot in College Park but looks like they have closed down. I will check out Radial in Silver Spring that seems to be the best option for me. If anyone knows any other good local spots in the area especially MD please chime in.

Radial is a very good shop but let me give you a word of advice. DO NOT LET THEM MOUNT AND TORQUE YOUR TIRES!! I went there 2-3 times and all those times despite telling them to torque it to 80lbs they dont listen. They torque it over 150lbs.. because believe me.. im 155lbs and I been jumping and standing on the lug nuts and they would not budge.Originally Posted by cherplex

PTuning in manassas. it's way out of the way, but well worth it. these guys seem just as anal as we are b/c they certainly don't want to be responsible for damaging your rims or your ride. the price is a touch on the high side...but the saying is...you pay for what you get.
