RDX wind noise

My 2013 RDX makes an almost unbearable loud wind noise at speeds over 60+ when the rear windows are rolled down. Has anyone else experienced this problem/found a solution??

This happens in all modern cars, I forget what the phenomenon is called but it has something to do with the pressure variance inside compared to outside of the car along with how the car is shaped (aerodynamics) as the air is swirling around the interior of the car.

Your solution... crack your front windows and tilt your sunroof to mitigate some of it. You'd get better MPGs at highway speeds with the windows up anyway. Just sayin'

It is called the "Helmholtz resonance". The same answer was posted in the RDX forum a few days ago.

Helmoltz resonance, cool. Are you talking about that horrible throbbing you get when you open only one or two windows? If yes, then cracking a third window will stop it.

Not unique to RDX

The noise buffering is just a fact of life in most cars. You are forcing air in with no way for it to circulate so it causes vibration.
