Angry Beware Metro Acura in Philly

At 56000 miles I experienced engine failure in my 06 Acura TL. Initially I was told my warranty expired at 50000 miles. When I pointed out it was covered up until 70000 miles, they quickly told a second lie, saying it was denied because I had a cold air intake system on my car. No way will this cause crankshaft bearing failure. When I pressed them to prove it, which I knew they could not, they insisted I pay $400 for them to find the cause. Low and behold, crankshaft bearing failure. I religiously change my oil with Royal Purple Synthetic oil which is rated for 12000 mile change interval. I went a step further and changed the oil according to the car's MID. Over the 5 year period I had misplaced one oil change receipt from three years ago, showing an interval of 9000 miles where there was no proof of me changing the oil. Corporate Acura denied my claim without a specific reason. They told me it was because of inconsistent oil changes. I will never buy another Acura or Honda again.

even though I live in Delaware County (Metro and Acura of Ardmore are my closest dealership), I've always gone to Davis. They've always been fair.

but your beef isn't about Metro, it's more about Acura USA denying your claim, right?

before I hit up google, what causes crankshaft bearing failure?

Well, its between the both of them. It seems Corporate Acura only went on the lies that Metro Acura told them. I'm not even sure Metro Acura faxed them all my oil change receipts. Corporate refused to give me a reason in writing, telling me I had to go to litigation to get one.

Since Royal Poopie meets no standards (they don't bother testing, they just tell you it is really good) then according to any major car manufacturer you had no oil changes.

This appears to prove that these boutique oils are pure hype - you may not have had a lubrication caused failure had you used approved oils.

You have only yourself to blame.

Acura told me, that once you put aftermarket parts on an engine you void the warranty. Because you change the performance of the car.

They tell that lie all the time but you ask for paperwork and they dont show you any of the fine print... it just comes down to how hard you want to argue with them and how long.. it truly is that way because in their paperwork it states if the issue is a certain piece attacehd to aftermarket part then it is void for that part.. not whole engine.. but again its like you have to do a sit down protest before they help... I got screwed by West Chester Acura because I did not realize that... i heard the one on 309 is supposed to be really good and acutally cares about their customers

one thing to do is ask to speak to regional person.. not have the dealership go inbetween but actually speak to the regional person
